invisible officer replied to the topic Tudor English miniatures, who makes these? in the forum Pike & Shotte 5 years ago
You can use the Wars of Religion Infantry Regiment for English infantry. The Italian war horse is good for the cavalry.

However the rule do state that they are not on the table… so if they are not on the table how do you measure the distance from them to the hidden unit?
Yes they are off the table but “in the transport”, so we can measure from the vehicle.
BUT as you say its not clearly stated either way*…. and if it came up in a game (as stated) my initial com…

However the rule do state that they are not on the table… so if they are not on the table how do you measure the distance from them to the hidden unit? As to firing additional weapons on the transport, thats the transports weapons just using the skill and PINs of the transported unit so you know to measure (from the vehicle).

Hidden Units are not stated to be affected by units on a transport, and transported units are mentioned not to be able to interact with units not on the transport (see officers Snap-to).
By the same argument, hidden units are also not stated to be unaffected by units in transport. And only transported HQ units are unable to use their “special”…[Read more]

My take on the situation is: Tiger Fear has an exception in the FAQ that means it effects units embarked on a transport. Hidden Units are not stated to be affected by units on a transport, and transported units are mentioned not to be able to interact with units not on the transport (see officers Snap-to). So unless those infantrymen disembark t…[Read more]

Bolt Action 2nd Ed page 153:
If a vehicle listed as a transport/tow picks a weapon option that means the transport loses its transport/towing ability, it no longer counts as a transport/tow for the purposes of force selection, but as either an armoured car (if wheeled and with damage value 7+ or worse) or an anti-aircraft or self-propelled…[Read more]

Artillery go on what ever base you like!
All Measurements are to/from the breach of the gun (pg 96 – I think). All crew have to be within 2″ of the breach to maintain coherency, and are assumed to be individually based on standard round bases (for when working out HE… the only time it matters.).

TRANSPORTS AND ORDERS
Transports and any unit they carry are, of course, two separate units and must be given two separate orders.Page 131:
Hidden units remain hidden until one of the following happens:
• The hidden unit is ordered to Fire, Advance or Run.
An enemy unit scores a hit on the hidden unit (other t…[Read more] -
Charge The Guns replied to the topic Landsknecht army, which miniatures do you use for cavalry? in the forum Pike & Shotte 5 years ago
I’m glad IO has some ideas as I am a bit hazy on this part of the period. I know that for late 15th century some of the WotR figures will work, but by Pavia they will not be right. Those Steel Fist Gendarmes do look glorious. Not sure what part of the Italian Wars they work best for.

Unfortunately not. The armor around 1525 was very different from the Rose war one, esp. the helmets.
But there is a warlord series that fits, the wars of religion gensdarmes. And the mtd. Arquebusuiers too.

Hello,
I’m reflecting on the Hand-to-Hand rules in Black Powder. I’m looking at the more complex examples of where more than one unit is involved in a HTH fight as a single engagement. So, Let’s say I have a large infantry unit. it is being charged by 2 small unit so it’s front and a cavalry is charging in on the flank. So.
Large Unit: Gets 6…[Read more]

Rules say at end of turn, you have a 50% chance, if you wish to try it, of making a group with Ambush take a shot instead.
But in what order is this done?
We had 5 in Ambush and the order would have affected who shot what.

Well, a good sipplement with a lot of work but hardly making BA into a true flavour WW I game. Creeping barrage and bombing infantry tactics dominated the war 1917/18 so much that the BA based rules will not have the feeling.
It was not just a war of other dress, less tanks and with gas.
The MP 18 is iconic, it should have pistol range a…[Read more]

You do a common mistake. There was not just one Rifle grenade type. Wehrmacht even had a propaganda amo to send printed propaganda stuff to Allied trenches.
The German AT Rifle Grenade was not the same as the HE anti infantry Rifle Grenade. It was a shaped charge amo. The Raketen Panzer Büchse / Panzerschreck amo was not just an enl…[Read more]

George started the topic The New Epic Battles Sounds Exciting in the forum General Discussion 5 years, 1 month ago
I checked out the new American Civil War series for Epic Battles. I hope that Warlord Games will do the same for other eras (American Revolution, Seven Years War, War of Spanish Succession, etc…) Also, is there a new set of rules for the Epic battles? Or are Black Powder rules being used just at smaller scales so that larger campaigns can be fought?

invisible officer replied to the topic New civil war announcment in the forum Black Powder 5 years, 1 month ago
Another example of the “strange scales” politics of Warlord. Like with the ships old gamers (like me) have allready “some” armies. In ACW I have large 1/300 forces and also some regiments in 28mm. My need for 13,5 mm is ………..
