Good stuff, Enioch. 🙂
If I may add to the showcase, these are my first VaS models, painted to run a small demo at my LGS. Hoping I can get enough interest to get others to buy in. I don’t want to have to buy all the fleets. 😀

Warlord sells the following mdf and platic kits that are ready to start a themed table. I recommend buying 2 -3 of each kit to fill up a table but there are some like the El alamein kit that really give you what you need for the desert rail station. These kits are made by Sarissa, TTcombat and Warlord Games, Renedra, Tabletop workshop. If you don’t…[Read more]

Well my suggestion would be to make some stand-in hedgerows to start, then get two large pieces that can double as hard cover and LOS breaking. After that you’ve got enough for some decent games until you expand.
For building basic hedgerows you can get a coconut fiber welcome mat, cut it into strips, then paint it green with some cheap spray pa…[Read more]

Thanks for the replies. I’m not opposed to making stuff, my problem is just how daunting the scale is – not knowing what to build.
I really want a “here is a good list of staple items to get you going”.
And the price – I’ll be at a show and see a tree or a section of wall for a £5 and think “wow, so twenty each will be £200 and I’ve not eve…[Read more]

I’ll add that unless you have a massive amount of patience don’t try to make stonewalls by hand! A 3” piece took me about 6 hours to shape before I decided just to buy a set.

Probably not helpful, but I think it really depends on how quick you want a terrain piece. From what I’ve seen, buildings from 4ground are great because they are pre painted and just need some assembly.
But, if you don’t mind putting a lot of work into a piece, making your own is incredibly rewarding since you’ll have a very unique piece.…[Read more]

I have two armies, still need to finish building and painting them. I find choosing and buying figures and vehicles but am bewildered to the point of standstill when it comes to scenery.
I have even been to war game shows but found the sheer range and number of sellers daunting, especially as you can’t seem to go to one place and say “I…[Read more]

They should be treated as in separate buildings, so they get hard cover. You imagine the units are hiding behind furniture, cupboards etc. You can also agree with your opponent that such cover are soft cover if you want.
All models that can draw line of sight to the target unit can fire. So as long as they can see each other, all models should…[Read more]

Question about brigade order: Can I issue brigade order to my 3 cavalry units, where one unit wants to charge enemy and other two want to move to the left flank and rear to support combat?

Stalingrad book page 163:
BUILDINGS WITH MULTIPLE FLOORS/SECTIONS
In the Bolt Action rulebook, buildings which suffer 10 or more hits from HE are destroyed completely and turned into rubble (HE Weapons Against Buildings, page 124). These rules were largely envisioned to be applied to small buildings, such as single-family residences. However,…[Read more] -

Last night we played Stalingrad Scenario # 6 – the station.
we built the station and divided it into 4 sections and 3 floors for a total of 12 sections.
the question is: how many units fit in a section?
if we allow multiple units to enter the same section (maybe a team and/or squad, …) how does shooting and melee work?
Thank you

Charge The Guns replied to the topic Commander MacColla Unit and Disorder in the forum Pike & Shotte 5 years, 2 months ago
Hi Mark – I think the MacColla option here simply provides an additional unit for the 90 points cost as well as the commander himself. So, if you take MacColla as a commander you also get a ‘free’ small unit of bodyguard. MacColla still follow the same rules for Generals and Commanders on pages 84 and 85, including joining units, and vul…[Read more]

Yes, the skate rail went all the way round, but it would be rare for it to be clear to actually slide the guns around, and they were usually clamped in one position on the rail – see illustration from a model below or there are walk around videos showing the pads that were attached, various stowage that would interfere with free travel of the MG…[Read more]
