Yes, what Stuart said. But remember, every time the spotter spots for a different unit, it resets the ranging-in (roll of 6).
No, if the spotter has pins, but the mortar team doesn’t have pins, the mortar team does not need to pass an order test to fire. As explained on page 102, the spotter and mortar team (or any unit with a spotter) can be…[Read more]

Yes, another unit can use that unit’s spotter if they don’t need him that turn (firing with their own LOS, moving etc) providing they meet the criteria to use a spotter.

While we’re on this subject, if a spotter is shot at and takes a pin, does the firing unit have to take an Orders Test to fire? This has come up in a few games recently. I thought the Spotter in BA was treated as simply a line of sight, not an actual soldier sending a call for fire (unlike in real life, where he is).

Hi Kar98k. What I meant was if a mortar team with spotter was shooting with line of sight from the mortar itself (so not needing the spotter), could another unit use the spotter? Or is the spotter now tied up because the mortar team it’s attached to is engaging?

I pre ordered both the Pak 40 & the Heavy Weapons box . A little pricey for what you get but nice models . Nice having ammo boxes for the weapons as well as both left and right hands carrying them included . Having both boxes , I ended up with 16 crew figures ( 4 sprues of 4 ) , by adding extra troops from the parts box I was able to make a 5 m…[Read more]

I just picked up the new “plastic” German heavy weapons and Pak 40 boxes. First things first, yes, they are a bit “Heroic” Scale. Its the new trend that will not die.
Now that we got that out of the way, I would like to quickly talk about the new boxed sets. They are a great match up for the German Veteran Infantry Platoon (plastic) box set. Why…[Read more]

Hi Greg. You can find your answer and much more on page 102 of the rules (Spotters). “If an indirect fire weapon is fired by a Veteran or Regular crew, the crew are assumed to be able to also see whatever any spotter (or forward observer) in your force can see.” And yes, indirect fire weapons with inexperienced crews cannot use spotters or forward…[Read more]

I have a question: If an indirect fire unit (like a mortar sqd) has a spotter, but doesn’t use it for the engagement they are firing, can another indirect fire unit (say a BT42) that doesn’t have a one use that spotter?

And I was wondering if anyone else could think of any other French Vehicles that should be included.
Not easy to answer this because we are not sure what will already be included in the new book.
For sure, the basic vehicles, and maybe some of the more obscure ones, but unless they release a preview list, we will not know for sure what will be…[Read more]

I am really excited about the release of the Armies of the British Commonwealth and I really looking forward to purchasing the new plastic Gurkhas.
Does anyone know if Warlords will also release Australian in plastic?
I’ve been using the North African plastics to date however, I am really hoping for South-West Pacific plastics with Owen SMG,…[Read more]

Hi All, My first real post.
I have a large-ish French army with a good selection of vehicles including a number that were not mentioned in the 2nd Ed. Armies of France or the 3rd Ed. French Army list. I was wondering if they were going to be included in the 3rd Ed Armies of France book which is supposed to be a more comprehensive list.
And I was…[Read more]

The hungarian rule: “Enemies cannot make Outlanking Manoeuvres and cannot use the
Infiltrators special rule for deployment”, so it turns off all infiltration during deployment (they will still get the +1 for cover saves after deployment though) -

Yeah, as I’d as it sounds the rangers can run “before” the first turn, but then are limited to advance on turn 1.
