Hi Al,
Why can’t the Light Infantry close ranks?
Charge Response (Page 60):
Stand: This is the default response and often the only option available. The unit remains where it is. In the case of a unit in open order it will close up its ranks as already described.
Close order is a valid formation for Light troops.

Hi Nat,
Yes, that’s right. When shooting it from the front, you count it as skirmishers for targeting, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are hitting the skirmishers. You are hitting the unit, as you have said, so it gets all the benefits of the formation.

@marecki – I read it differently… as the shooting rules state that it’s is an assault column or line when being shot at in the flank or rear I take it that mixed formation IS as an upgrade so should keep the +1 moral
the only reason why I wouldn’t give the screen the sharpshooter rule is because the unit as a whole doesn’t have it

The light infantry can’t close up. If the skirmishers charge into contact, the light infantry don’t have close ranks as a charge reaction option, so it is never going to happen.
When they are in combat, they form a loose line and fight in Open Order.

Form me another bad feeling for my is that mixed formation is ANOTHER type of formation, not the upgrade of any other formations… For example french attack column. When you use skirmish screen in front of attack column you lose +1 morale (because it’s basically not attack column formation any more, its mixed formation). So i 2nd edition…[Read more]

Hi,
I remember there used to be a gallery section on the various WG fora and was wondering where/if it is possible to post up pics of my work. (Not for commercial purposes – I do not paint commissions anymore)
Until a November last year I had taken hiatus away from wargaming and I’m a bit behind the times in some areas lol

A Skirmish unit is facing a light infantry unit in open order, and declares a charge. If the light infantry unit then closes up, does the charge get cancelled?
When skirmishers do get into close combat, and close ranks, do they still count as being in open order?

New question DP and restricted… both half the AD now does this mean you only have a quarter of your AD? Or does the Count as AA part of DP give you a 360 arc for the purpose of the restricted rule?

I was just wondering when the full rulebook (as opposed to the starter book) might be making an appearance?
I get that it’s likely delayed – along with most other things – by COVID, but any update on possible timing?

Hi Folks,
I’m in Oakland, California, working in Business and Leadership Development for a defense/LINAC firm, but in a previous life, was a 21-year USMC combat veteran.
I’ve always loved WWII naval (and aerial) warfare, so I’m thrilled that Warlord is doing Victory at Sea.
I’m a serial hobbyist, and love building and painting miniatures and…[Read more]

I have some Perry Miniatures 28mm WW2 figures, and they are some of my favorite 28mm figures for Bolt Action, but they only have North Africa German and British (in plastic) and some really nice American infantry (in plastic). However, it looks like Rubicon Models has American, British, German, and Soviet infantry.
Does anyone here have both the…[Read more]

I do it ever on resin stuff, that has often such a coat.
But metal miniatures are today rarely coated with such a stuff. In some 40 years I hardly met 10 miniatures that made any problems. And plastics have no such coating at all.
If they have a coating problem it comes from the modeller that played around with the miniatures on sprue or…[Read more]

Hello,
I got me a starter army last week that I have been working on. I want to do a better job on these soldiers than I did the first. I watched several youtube videos on prepping, basing, and priming minis on BlackMagicCraft’s youtube channel that I found highly informative.
One of his techniques he recommends in prepping the minis is to wash…[Read more]
