Thanks, invisible officer. Our posts crossed. I updated the OOBs because the Germans only had three squads and had the 77mm field gun as well.

Here is an overhead shot of the battlefield. It shows a small village, largely untouched by the war so far. There is a farm complex in the bottom left quadrant and two village buildings beside the crossroads. The British forces are due to enter from the top; the Germans from the bottom of the table.

and a 77mm gun. 😉
Very nice force. I love them,
I must. I have exactly the same miniatures. And some more. BA is good for the 1914 and 1918 mobile warfare. Or for raids, my 42 cm Mörser makes a good objective.

I enjoy using Bolt Action for WW1 games. Careful thought is needed, however, to create scenarios for this level of game, irrespective of the rule set. For this scenario, we chose a meeting encounter during late 1918. The British advance has reached the bocage-like countryside near Le Cateau. First, some photos of the force selections. The British…[Read more]

… hmm lets spitball some ideas (with 0 prior thought on the subject!)for modern aircraft in BRS – speed is in 100s not 50s
Jet 3 – 1970s + jets… additional rule, “after burners”…aircraft may add +2 to both min & max movement
Missile card – each aircraft can have so many missile cards depending on type (ie harrier can allow you to…[Read more]

I’m pretty sure it should work as it scales up for Korea and potentially could to modern area too.
Early Vietnam, maybe. But I suspect that missiles will kind of throw things off-kilter somewhat once they move beyond the very early heat-seekers. You also need to figure out a system to handle radar both for long-range detection and for r…[Read more]

Only the pin for the damage roll result.

If a infantry unit successfully assaults an armored vehicle but fails to destroy it because it either fails to penetrate its armor or only gets a crew stun, immobilization or a fire does the vehicle take a pin for the assault or only the pin per the damage roll?

If page 137 is not clear nothing will.
All you have to know for that scenario is there. On top right the types allowed and below why there is no light, medium and heavy. 100 % clear for anybody willing and able to read more than a single sentence. Absolutely nothing interpretable.
Only if you bring other page / books info into the dic…[Read more]

Rules to me must are like technical laws, they must are clear, for me a regulation must be written as a technical rule, not ambiguous, not doubly interpretable, if you define something with a word it must be like this from start to finish, not verbose but synthetic and schematic, the player only has to find the rule that fits the specific case. if…[Read more]

If the enemy is within 6″ you will not have the chance to shoot.
Winning combat, moving D6″ and then taking your action is great, if you can pull it off.

The French flags of 70/71 are mostly like in Crimean war.
The drapeau / flag for the other battalions was similar
But it was a war of many….. . For example the 14.000 Marins Bretonique that fought on land had a white one with Black POTIUS MORI QUAM FOEDARI and heraldic hermelin. Or the Voluntaires d’Alsace had a blue one with a white…[Read more]

I believe the 2nd edition is going to see some sort of reduction in dice. The shields allowing rerolls to armour rather than parrying and an overall reduction in the number of dice each model contributes.
Infamy Infamy is very specific in its lists, so the first book is only Roman versus barbarians. It plays very different and whilst not suiting…[Read more]
