VinUnleaded replied to the topic Warlord Games is having difficulties? in the forum General Discussion 4 years, 8 months ago
I actually received it and its seems ok, just not sure how Warlord Games and “Geek” are associating the mat with the new Epic ACW line, other than its Gettysburg.
75% of the mat covers the area south of town and west of Emmitsburg Rd, leaving only 25% of the mat usable for only the NW quadrant of the first days battle aka the scenario included in…[Read more]

invisible officer replied to the topic Raubtier Class Torpedoboot in the forum Cruel Seas 4 years, 8 months ago
I based my model on Jaguar 1944. In 39 the five Raubtiere formed the 6. Flottille. They laid mines in North Sea and checked merchant traffic to neutral countries. In December Jaguar and Seeadler took 6 prizes. In 1940 Jaguar took part in more mining missions or was part of escort for larger warships or minelayers. In time of Weserübung Norway op…[Read more]

Between 1924 and 1929 the democratic Weimarer Republik built two very similar classes of Torpedoboote. The Type 1923 ~ Raubvogel class and the type 1924 ~ Raubtier class.
The first all named to birds: Möwe / Seeadler / Greif / Albatros / Kondor / Falke, the other to carnivores: Wolf / Iltis / Luchs / Tiger / Jaguar / Leopard
Design was in…[Read more]

invisible officer started the topic Playing the Kriegsmarine historical in Cruel Seas in the forum Cruel Seas 4 years, 8 months ago
I was asked about the role of the vessels up to Zerstörer size and decided to write some notes on historical KM tactics. The Kriegsmarine tactics got dictated by the strategical situation. From the start it lacked the numbers to fight the RN on an equal footing. The Commonwealth fleets had more cruisers than the Kriegsmarine destroyers.

Nat replied to the topic Mortar Team Zeroing in the forum Bolt Action 4 years, 8 months ago
Wouldnt you have to test for the mortar shell exploding on an empty floor? If so then its just the foot print of the building they need to move 2″ away from
IIRC indirect might explode on the roof or any floor

I have both of these too, and I didn’t think it was too noticeable, except for:
(1) the SS that were raised up on 1 leg – that really added to their height.
(2) The SS jackets are bulkier, even compared to some other German infantry types. You can see, for example, if you try to mix and match some of the SS arms with regular German bodies – t…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Some Rule Question in the forum Victory At Sea 4 years, 9 months ago
A common house rule (which I may put into a Wardroom FAQ) is that base to base is always point blank range irrespective of the actual distance.

Ok you can shoot either the Building or the unit…
AH From the latest FAQ… HE also bypasses the hard cover a building gives (as well as the extra protection)…. hmmm intresting… I forgot that part (I’m blaming the lack of games in the last year :'( )

1, yes models out of line of sight can be hit
2, correct… all modifiers apply when direct firing IF you hit then you place the template.
3a, if you target the unit so you would need 6s as they are in hard cover.
3b, building collapses… correct “HE value of 2D6 or greater hits” is needed before you check to see if the build could…[Read more]

Garry Wills replied to the topic Base sizes for Epic ACW? in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 9 months ago
Figures per base are only important in terms of if they look right. The key thing is that the frontage of the units are the same at each unit size.

Garry Wills replied to the topic Base sizes for Epic ACW? in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 9 months ago
BP 2 and GH were both written before Epic existed. BP2 does give the principles for base sizes, the frontages are what matters and so the standard units for cavalry and skirmishers will be the same as for the close order infantry. See p.16 of BP2, 200-250mm standard and 120-150mm small, you can change these up or down depending on how many epic…[Read more]

The biggest impact of the tarento raid wasnt the material damage but rather the psychological effects. At Pearl Harbour the psychological effects had the opposite effect and instead of making the US fearful of the Japanese it made them angry / venganceful
