  • That’s a neat variant of a common way of fixing the pegs and saves the drilling out into the peg for a metal pin.

I’m clumsy so quickly break the stands. So once they go I then drill out using a 2.9/3mm drill and insert the whole of the broken-off flight stand a few millimetres.

  • Hi everyone,

I’m stocking Virai models for quite some time now and didn’t go that because of the two things (beside the actual world situation that prevent gathering with friend to play games):

    – my paint scheme (almost done)

    – flying pegs

I about to discuss about the second point here. The issue is once they are glued to the model the tend…[Read more]

I have just got the Base set plus the German fleet with Bismark. Have the points been altered from the VAS2 that Mongoose was to release as the Bismark is now 450 points and was 600 ?

I just hope it is tweaks and not dreaded typos again šŸ™ as i have spotted a few already ion the ship cards

Cheers Al, those base numbers you just mentioned are what we used for our first game. But cm instead of inches eh…..mmm

    Will try it.

Steve, Hail Caesar can be played with any figures based for any system and any scale.

we’ve played with armies based for DBM and in 15mm. I would suggest using centimetres for movement and ranges because it is a straight switch with no maths involved whatsoever.Ā Some will suggest using 2/3rds distances and all sorts.Ā I don’t care how simple the m…[Read more]

  • Looking at page 23, why do small infantry units have the same frontage as standard units?

I was thinking that 2 small units can align to fight 1 standard unit, but this wouldn’t be the case according to p 23.

    Cheers

  • Hello all,

Want to give the game a try but the only ancients/medievals I have are 15mm based up for DBM (40mm frontages)

Our table is 6 x 4. So we need a reduction in scale to deal with the not-a-12′-long-table ,as well as smaller figure size.

We can’t use 28mm frontages as the number of figures needed would skyrocket. Ā I know the anything…[Read more]

  • While other rules seem quite realistic, Leaving the Board is not.Ā  As it stands, once part of a ship is over the edge, then the ship is removed and misses the next turn.Ā  After that it is placed on again at the leaving spot during theĀ  weather check, at light sails.Ā  Ā The immediate question is, is it placed from the back of its wake perp…[Read more]

  • Hi all.

Ok, so here’s the situation – I’m building a French Army, to fight my friends Peninsular British. I’ve chosen to set my force in 1814, so they won’t look out of place in a Waterloo setting.
Im having a bit of a meltdown at the masses of info on French uniforms, some, imo, quite contradictory.
I have a couple of basic questions regardi…[Read more]

  • Hey Nat,

Thank for posting about the Yak-1 having the wrong points. I just got two box sets of them and couldn’t believe the low points. I actually came to the forum just to ask about the low Yak-1points. Is there a BLR Erratta out?

  • They are very nicely painted carriers.

Not sure how that could happen since cavalry retreats from melees it does not win even if it is a draw, I don’t believe it ever “locks in hand to hand combat” like infantry does.

We conduct each melee separately.Ā  The defender allocates the unit’s H-t-H dice against each target but never more than half of them to the unit striking its flank or…[Read more]

  • 1) Yes it can in the following turn. I am assuming that it had moved into the support position in the current turn.

If it was in that support position at the start of the turn and able to move after the infantry units were already moved into contact, then it could move in the same turn and give up its position of support.

    2) Yes. However, you…[Read more]

  • The regular way that players do it ( and this is a self adoption, not a rule) is to allow an aide to take over. The general way is to replace him with an officer that has one less command rating.

Another way of doing it would be to roll for a new command rating, say with a -1 to the roll.

In both cases, if you are using the command traits, roll…[Read more]

  • What happens when a Division Commander is lost? I assumed his group can only use initiate orders from now on…meaning those far from the enemy are reduced to just sitting and watching. Or can the General of the army ride in and at least give an order to one of the units, or can he indeed take on the roll of his lost divisional commander?

  • We had a situation of 1 Spanish and 1 British cavalry locked in hand combat. Ā The Spanish had another cavalry unit in Support, behind its friend in front, but slightly to the side.

    (1) Could the Spanish unit that is in support still do an Initiative Order to manoeuvre around and get ready for a charge to the British flank? Ā (I assume they c…[Read more]

  • Hello + greetings from Germany šŸ™‚

I had preordered the IJN-fleet via Fantasywelten/Germany and received the box yesterday.

The ship models are very detailed – i love the fine details of the aircraft carrier smoke-pipes. One minor critic point regarding the ships: It would be great if the decks would have details regarding the wooden covering ( I…[Read more]
