Thanks Dave for the details. I was hoping they would be backwards compatible. That is, we would be able to use the arms from the older set with this newer set.

With the newer German and American plastic boxed sets, you can’t because if you do, you get something like Arnold Schwarzenegger bodies with skeleton arms.

How do they compare to the older plastic set?

Do the figures in this new box set look more beefier or slimmer than the original set? That is, will figures from the older plastic set and newer plastic set mix well together. Also, are the bits interchangeable between the two sets.

Bolt Action doesn’t really have any strict ground scale (or time scale for that matter), but rather the ground scale (and time) for Bolt Action is somewhat abstract. How do Offensive Miniatures (their 28mm WW2 line) measure up next to Warlord Games (their 28mm WW2 line)?

I’m pretty sure 1/48 is a lot closer to Bolt Actions infantry models scale than 1/56.

If rule books had every little detail and situational rule, well, 1) these books would be big, and 2) it is impossible to think of every little detail possible and/or tabletop situation.
