I’d like to see a bit more nuance in vehicle stats. For example I recently read the Soviet Union thought the Panther was a backward step from the Tiger due to the superior HE of the 88 mm shell compared to 75 mm. Yet in game both tanks have identical stats.

Yeah, New Zealander, I haven’t ordered from Warlord since the change to the ROW system. Just checked and it would cost me $106 NZD to get a Hetzer. Absurd.

The displacement tonnes amounts vary between sources and if it’s patrol loaded, max loaded or testing.
But the / 500 and round works for all ships
Between v1 (mongoose) and v2 (warlord) a couple of different stats were amalgamated or removed…
So hull is literally the displacement that the ship made.

Soldotna, Alaska.
We meet at the public library because our town is lame and has no game shops……
Any Bolt Action or Victory at Sea players in the area?

That’s brilliant….I’ll have to start doing this more often. Crunched a bunch of numbers to figure out hull points, and the average hull points/tons for destroyers is roughly 1/400, but for cruisers it’s roughly 1/500. That’s interesting, considering that you would think ton-for-ton cruisers would have more HP due to their armor and size and whatnot?

Yeah , what Nat said. Any of these points issues may become moot soon-ish.
For now, get the Army Builder app as the seem to update it with the latest points costs and options.
On the question of “why vehicle X” is not included: as WW2 had hundreds of different ones, I suppose they had to draw the line somewhere!
Also I think the designers…[Read more]

No joy on a quick search of my usual suspects, but I did find a couple of 3D printable STLs – if you can use that option, just cut at the waterline…

Sorry mate I wouldn’t know, I mostly have a Victory at Sea collection. But I’ll do some research and ask around.

Thinking about a D Day diorama using the Sherman DD resin kit and seem to remember that there used to be a waterline version . Can’t seem to find it , was I imagining things ? Also , is all the stowage molded on to the kits or is it separate pieces ? Way too much clutter IMO compared to beach photos I’ve seen .
Is there a 3D or resin/ pewter k…[Read more]

Aidan started the topic IJN Yubari light cruiser discussion: viable? in the forum Victory At Sea 2 years ago
Hey guys,
Do you think Warlord games will give us an official IJN Yubari model eventually? I think that it probably won’t happen for awhile, they have not even made the Brooklyns, Des Moines, Sendais, or even the Atlantas yet. Which is why I made my own stat card for it (I’ll share it if requested) and found a 3d printable model.
And secondly,…[Read more]

Hello fellow gamers,
This year I bought the Victory at Sea:Pacific starter set, and at first I thought the Americans had the advantage with 9 ships versus 6. However, after a few games I realized that despite their numerical advantage, it was really, really, hard to win against the IJN. They could just spam their torps from their cruisers and…[Read more]

Do you think the Atlanta-class cruisers will get to Victory at Sea? They are a fairly iconic ship, and it would be nice to have some cheap cruiser options for the U.S. navy. And I want to recreate some Guadalcanal battles with them in it…

Well…V3 rulebook is being released in September and a new armies of Germany is being released early next year. This will include most units from campaign books as well
So hopefully these lack of consistencies are addressed

I’ve been playing Bolt Action for about five years now. Bolt Action and Konflikt 47 are the games that got me into miniatures gaming. I’ve picked up a number of the army and campaign books, as well as the basic rulebooks. Eventually I’ve noticed several discrepancies, mostly in German vehicle stats, since I mostly play Germans. I refer to boo…[Read more]
