Kar98k replied to the topic Armies of Germany book typo? in the forum Bolt Action 4 months ago
Not a typo, just a silly cut and paste mistake from page 76, SD.KFZ 251 STUKA ZU FUSS. They have not added it to the errata yet. Yes, it will confuse some players.
Overall, there are a few good things about the third edition, but the rules team 1) should had been less haphazard with their “Cut and Paste” from older documents, 2) should had care…[Read more]

Before the release of Third Edition, there was talk about having this +1 to stand alone AT-guns and not include those mounted on vehicles. I was one of those in favor of this as this made more sense, but there were good arguments for weapon platforms such as the Marder III, Nashorn and such. To keep things simple, “…including those mounted on…[Read more]

Not sure, maybe they had plans to release a campaign book soon like Market Garden to fill that missing company?.

Hi, noticed in the Armies of Germany book page 79, the entries for SD.KFZ 10 & 7 special rules seem to be referencing multi-launchers, not a biggie but may be confusing to some players.

after the release of the new version 3 “armies of ” books a person can find Panzer Grenadiers for German lists and also Armored Rifles for US lists so why did the UK get overlooked in the British Motor Brigades? Mechanized infantry portion of armored divisions, I can find a lot of information and orders of battle and found it odd they were not i…[Read more]

No.
That only applies to anti-tank guns, not all anti tank weapons. Anti tank guns are four lines of the weapons chart, the rule even says “All anti-tank guns (from light to super-heavy, including those mounted on vehicles)”.

One question dear mates,
Do the Antitank rifles use the +1 bonus of Antitank Guns when they get a Fire order die?
They also have óptica and kinetic energy. It would make sense they would also benefit in the roll to hit but I cannot find anything in the rulebook.
Thanks

I just went into Easy-Army and added one to my existing third edition AoIJ list and it shows the transport capacity. Might be worth checking that you’re using an AoIJ3 list rather than an MRB list (‘v3 Armies of Imperial Japan-…’ rather than ‘Version 3 – Japanese Army-…’).

Thursday gone, we played a damn good mash up between the forces of middle Imperial Roman Emperor Galerius and the massed horse army of the Sassanian King, Shah Narseh.

See p151, Vehicles, Vehicle Special Rules, Turret Rear-Mounted Machine Gun. The rear mounted mg can only fire into the opposite arc that the main/co-ax fires into. This is the general rule, there are a few vehicles that combine turret rear mounted mgs and one man turret rules, in those cases it’s either the front weapon or the rear weapon (eg: J…[Read more]

It’s stated that tanks with main guns and coax machine guns can only fire one or the other.
How about the tanks with rear facing turret machine guns like the Soviet and Japanese tanks that have them.
Are they treated like coax machine guns or can you fire both since they have different fields of fire ?

Kar98k replied to the topic Buildings and extra protection in the forum Bolt Action 4 months, 2 weeks ago
Another idea is to use second edition building rules, or a combination of third and second edition. They were not all that careful when they went with third edition, and I think that why the building rules got the way they were.
Overall, there are a few good things about the third edition, but the rules team 1) should had carefully read the FAQ…[Read more]

Our group also thinks the building rules are broken at the moment. In the current version they are a bit of a death trap. They become even dumber when being targeted by something like a Nebelwerfer where every unit within 6″ of building comes under potential fire instead of within 6″ of the target (so, a single model (a spotter) in a 12″ s…[Read more]

The reason is, that the rules are BS! The original V2 building ruels were really good and then WLG started the chaos until the point that they deleted the extra cover rules for buildings.
It’s sad that they have no ideas for good rules.

I have played in a tournament where we had 2 order dice of another color added to the dice bag and when both dice were drawn the round ends no matter how many activations are left.
I agree, because “some setups or custom scenarios might not react well to any sort of random ending.” However, this is why I think the other idea works better – using…[Read more]

Hi folks,
I’m Hans. I live in Germany and have dabbled in a lot of games. I’m a little tired of dabbling and am looking to get stuck in to K47. I’ve been enjoying painting the dudes in the Axis starter!
