Nice choices. I was recently thinking of forming a Chinese force from the Empires in Flames book, and saw it uses the BA20M armoured car, a variant of the Soviet BA20 but with same stats. The BA20 looks interesting as a fast moving flamethrower team with recce capability to escape attacks if needed.

Dont really have a favorite list… but I do have a core that I find hard not to take…
1 x snr (1st) Lt
2 x 11 man guards with 2 LMGs + 1 Pzf

What do you include in your favourite 1000 point force? My attached 1000 point US force consists of 2 platoons, each with 1 first lieutenant, 1 regular 6-man squad, 1 engineer team, 1 Chaffee and 1 M3 White Scout Car. Only difference is Platoon 1 has a Forward Air Observer while Platoon 2 has a heavy mortar.

Whatever you’re doing, it’s working 🙂
Yeah, transportability is important to me as well, but mostly I’m concerned about the modularity and the re-arrangeability. I am running a VaS campaign for friends via Discord, and we need a way to simulate various coastlines. Some scenarios you can do with individual atolls, and those are small enough to…[Read more]

“Apart from attacker/defender scenarios & if in reserve, ”
There is nothing preventing their being set up using forward deployment during attacker/defender scenarios, only if in reserve. The second para even tells you the order they set up for attacker/defender scenarios. “In an Attacker-Defender scenario the defender sets up his spotters, o…[Read more]

Oh, those hex cards are exceptionally cool! Well detailed and easier to travel with than standard terrain pieces. [I often have to travel to get games in. So portability is a big deal for me.]
I get the “dirty” thing with washes. Basically, I brush longer strokes on the broad areas and dab in the detail areas. While these washes are wate…[Read more]

FAO Dan,
Nice article. Note the you refer to HMS Hood and USS Hood in article. Trenent is spelt Tranent. And re 602/603 squadrons. One claims to have been the first RAF squadron to shoot down a plane in WW2, the other claims to be the one that fight shot down a plane over Britain. Either way the plane was actually claimed by FAA. In passing I’m…[Read more]
