Hi Ken
1) Disorder in hand to hand combat occurs as a result of the break test. Generally, it is the loser of the combat that takes a break test. I say generally because if the combat ends in a draw, either or both combatants could end up taking the test. If either combatant is shaken at the end of a drawn combat – Only a drawn combat – then they…[Read more]

Set-up heading, second sentence of the paragraph for second wave “It is kept in reserve and may enter from Turn 3 from any table edge.”
Similarly in the para for third wave “It is kept in reserve and may enter from Turn 4 from any table edge.”
In this scenario, ‘First wave’ is your on table deployment. There is no true ‘first wave’ by normal…[Read more]

Germany Strikes , scenario 1, Post Office. Germans Wave 1 starts on board, wave 2 and wave 3 enter later. The word “reserves” not used at all which makes senses in the all out Blitzkrieg setting.

Can you give an example? I haven’t read all the way through all the scenarios in the campaign books to have those particular ones come to mind.

First time user of the Black Powder system and have a copy of the Epic Battles rulebook from the starter set.
I’m hoping that these three questions are either omissions from the main BP2 rules or simple cut and paste errors. All page references are from the Epic Battles rulebook.

I feel that any additions to the Epic scheme of things should certainly include the Russians and Austrians! Or perhaps a nod to the Peninsular campaign. In my opinion, the 100 Days campaign is of interest, but some what limiting in the entire scope of the Napoleonic era. It certainly remains to be seen what will eventually emerge.

Thanks Stuart, but what of the (few) scenarios that specify 2nd wave and not the word Reserve. Or 3rd wave. I am thinking they don’t need rolls to enter?
Cheers

First wave come on in the first turn and don’t need to roll. Reserves come in from the second turn (except Top Secret) and do need to roll. Ouflankers are a sub-set of reserves, can come in from third turn and do need to roll.
That’s speaking generally – variations will be in scenario special rules (ie: Top Secret which treats turn 1 as if it w…[Read more]

One of the people I like watching is OnPointHQ. In this video he makes winter US airborne by using German bodies, and it’s a really cool effect

Second Wave vs Reserves
Am I right in thinking that units designated as 2nd wave/3rd wave/etc by some scenarios are not reserves and so do not need to roll an order check to enter the table?
Cheers

Some very easy but well thought out kit bashes there . Your right K98 , some can be a real PIA even if you done kit bashing for years . I’ve always liked Troop of Shewe’s conversions . Here’s a couple of his photos I saved from the old Warlord site ( from 2014 IRC ). I’ve tried to cut / bend some Brit troops to make seated figures like these b…[Read more]

For me, I find kit-bashing almost a must sometimes to get that figure you need for your games.
Kit-bashing/conversions can also be fun as well, but while kit-bashing/conversions can be easy for some, it can be a PitA for others. Even the simple ones can be a PitA for some – the latter is more dependent on their level of modelling skill.

Hi Folks,
Long term lurker, just wanted to ask if anyone has any idea of what the next Black Powder sourcebooks conflict is likely to be?
Obviously Epic is doing well, so is the ACW going to get an EPIC Battles rulebook makeover to be more conflict themed like the Waterloo rules rather than just generic BP2?
In previous interviews there has…[Read more]

On a serious note, it is interesting that the British dismissed the lance in the Peninsula, but then adopted it after 1815. Better for fighting ‘native’ infantry?
Not just in the Peninsula, but the entire Napoleonic Wars (and before). Unlike the other major countries, the British didn’t have Lancers regiments. They didn’t appear until after the…[Read more]

I thought the machine gun came with the top plate as a separate piece ,but I cant find the leaflet with it shown . I thought it was the late war Heer ( Warlords 1st German kit , skinny arms / weapons sprue ) but I only ever ordered them during the sprue sale for parts so got no instructions . Love the sub machine guns / MGs in that set but the…[Read more]
