Yes. A natural one failing is a part of the roll to damage rules regardless of the penetration value of the weapon.

As a follow up question to that, we have always played that when the rules call for a damage roll to be added to penetration, a 1 misses. Examples would be when +3 HE or +3 flamethrower hits a an inexperienced squad, it still misses on ones to damage. Otherwise, the rule would read you automatically kill all within the template or all hit by the…[Read more]

He’s creating a distinction that doesn’t exist in the rules.
Also “Close quarters does not specifically say whether or not to use that rule.” is the wrong burden of proof.
Rolling to damage in close quarters is the same as rolling to damage vs shooting (p79, Close Quarters, Fight First Round of Close Quarters, Attackers Roll to Damage, third…[Read more]

The following debate arose in a recent game.
An infantry squad of 12 men with anti tank grenades charged a stationary 8+ armor tank. He rolled 11 4’s, 5’s, and 6’s for a total of an 11 penetration. He then made a roll to damage and rolled a 1. I said that a natural roll of 1 is always a miss as explained on page 107. He argued page 107 only…[Read more]

@eric … like to see what pistol you are using to have an accurate range of 120 yards.

What is Bolt Actions game scale. Not the figures, but distance. 1″ equals how many meters/yards/feet/etc.?
Bolt Action has no precise ground or time scale. These aspects of the game are somewhat abstract and tailored for gameplay rather than adhering to any actual scale. That is to say, ranges are adjusted for playability while maintaining a l…[Read more]

I second Garry’s answer. Nothing more to add to it except that you should remember that all units that are in a position to support will be affected. This is regardless of whether they were used as support or not.
as you know, only three units can support a unit in combat, but there could be more than three units in a position of support. it i…[Read more] -

Great question. Yes I would say that the support units would also test for the reason you state. The rule as written suggests that the charge move is complete once the charging unit has made contact, but it also mentions pursuit moves. So this would imply that the charging unit gets a follow up move including a sweeping advance or charge d…[Read more]

the target of a terrifying charge takes a break test as if it had just lost a round of melee, fair enough simple rule. However, if the target fails and actually breaks, ie removed from the table, what does this mean for any units in support? If a unit breaks on losing a melee then any unite in support also take a break test, so if the test is…[Read more]

Hello fellow gamers:
If using Bolt Action weapon ranges, the scale is roughly 1 inch = 20 yards. Use of additional, varied, and denser terrain features gets you into a line-of-sight “see it, shoot it” game and still allows for maneuvering.
With a figure-scaled game 25mm-28mm at 1” = 5 ft or 25mm = 1.5 m (approximately 1::60 scale), theref…[Read more]

I’ve kitbashed all my Soviet Women figures just by exchanging female heads with the Soviet figure.
Harder conversions were usually finding an unusual figure and chopping off pieces and then replacing an item.
