If you go to the facebook group – ‘Blood Red Skies Ready Room’ and look in the files section there is a FAQ file (latest is March this year) by Andy Chambers (the Author of the game)…
however the errata section (so points change on the P51, the Yak1 & something else) has gone missing … again! but there is a file from about a year ago with…[Read more]

Big Al replied to the topic Three flankers… in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 6 months ago
I assume you are talking about the light horse? They may attempt to charge the Macedonian quarter that they start the turn in. From what you say, that is in the flank quarter, so, they can charge the flank. Meanwhile, the three Persian units to the front may attack the Macedonian front. The Macedonians are in trouble, as they cannot deal with the…[Read more]

Had this situation earlier.
One Macedonian unit, facing off against a line of 3 Persian units. (So 1 supporting left and 1 supporting right)
A Persian Light Horse was somewhere to the left flank of the Macedonians, not engaged.
The rules say only 1 support per flank allowed.
I believe as the Persians were not starting the turn fully BEHIND…[Read more]

Nat replied to the topic Stalingrad Enemy at the Gates in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 6 months ago
soviets are easier because even in 1941 they have whole units armed with SMGs… its just that if you wanted to make 3 units of rifle armed guys from a box you cant….(oh dear what I shame out of 2 boxes of guys I now have 2 units of SMG guys)
But yeah..with Bolt Action take the rules as a starting point and common ground for playing people..…[Read more]

1. You can use the emplacements as terrain peices or as basing materials… which ever takes your fancy.. there is no right or wrong answer
2. Yeah you dont always get enough of the weapons you want in the boxs… for example the Soviet Infantry box doesnt give enough rifles… so if you can either use them then count as normal rifles when…[Read more]

Make it that you take damage if you leave..the same as if you are becalmed or drop 2 sails levels.
another alternative is to allow the following ship(s) to target the one that has left the table…measuring to the exit point. The ship that left can’t fire back as all the crew are attempting to tack the ship round

Nat replied to the topic Battle for the Pacific – Questions in the forum Victory At Sea 5 years, 6 months ago
AA batteries are 360 arc
DP just allows the weapons system to target aircraft at half range ..and must either target aircraft or surface ships (no mixing target)
so using 5” guns at 6” range do I use half the AD or a quarter?

Might I suggest ospreys men at arms boom 141…napoleons line infantry …
basically it it boils down to regimental preference … there is no one size fits all answer you need to look at the regiments in question.

Nat replied to the topic Tank and turret pivots in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 6 months ago
As said above turrets normally have a 360deg arc unless jammed (damage table result)
i say normally because some turrets have limited arcs such as the soviet t28 & t35 tanks which have turrets limited to 2 arcs (so 180)…

Big Al replied to the topic Rule book and Reference sheet don't agree in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 6 months ago
Right! I don’t know what you don’t agree with but let me try to explain.
“Better than 6” is the same as “less than 6”.
In Black Powder, a roll of 6 to hit causes disorder. In Hail Caesar, a roll of 6 to hit causes a break test. Most of the break test results will cause disorder, with one or two exceptions, some good some bad.
Anywa…[Read more]

Not only don’t agree but are opposite in meaning…
From p.72 rules:
- On the roll of a 6 ‘to hit’ by ranged attacks requiring less than 6 to hit.
From Quick Ref sheet
• On the roll of a 6 ‘to hit’ by ranged attacks requiring better than 6 to hit.
Which is it?

Big Al replied to the topic Inconsistency in rules? in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 6 months ago
I know what you mean and I agree in general. However, I think it was done this way to make sure that the unit wasn’t a “invulnerable”. If they had a better morale save, it might make them too hard. Especially when it came to hand to hand combat. This way, it allows for additional protection against missiles without giving them a better save again…[Read more]

Thanks Al.
I cannot see any rational for a stone wall (Moral save) to be in a different category (Shooting mod) for a metal wall (aka armour). z

Big Al replied to the topic Inconsistency in rules? in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 6 months ago
Not an error. Read the entry on page 88. It is due to their heavy armour.
Now, if they counted as being in cover, it would still be a -1 to hit. So it is as you have suggested, effectively.

SteveT started the topic Inconsistency in rules? in the forum Hail Caesar 5 years, 6 months ago
-1 on Ranged attacks vs cataphracts/heavy infantry.
That is odd, since these units were slow and didn’t present fast moving targets. If it is because of their protection, then surely this is equivalent to troops behind cover.
Is this an error? (I am using the Quick Ref sheet that Warlord put out)
Cheers
