I use the large rectangular wooden wine boxes along with fridge magnet material. So far has the contents of the large ACW army box and will take about the same again. Also looks cool 🙂

The forum is a “bit” empty in the moment. Any forum lives from the members, so you should post.
Why not showing your ships? Or tell us about your plans.
My ship buliding is down in the moment, the international wood prices got crazy high.
And a lot of hardware got in the way. Includig a genuine SMS Emden I Sailors cap. I resarc…[Read more]

In “Armies of the Soviet Union” it says on page 32 that specialised scouts were formed from 1943 onwards.
However, any student of the Soviet army knows that reconnaissance units were integral to all teeth arms since before WWII.
The infantry had three reconnaissance platoons: Regimental cavalry and infantry platoons, and a Battalion infantry pla…[Read more]

yes light mortars are worth it in a japanese army… they can split fire (pick a different target from the rest of the unit) + give smoke.
the Tank I build with a medium AT gun… however depends on how much armour you face in your local group as to what will do you best…
two additions… hmm.. I added a sniper / flamethrower blisters and the…[Read more]

wg.easyarmy.com is a good list builder…not 100% accurate but it is one person looking after it when he gets the individual books…
I think that theres only a few obsucure units that arent in the generic reinforced platoon…..not being a german player I cant say yes or no for you question.

I’d say it’s too late to react – general principle is that escape reactions are before the roll to hit and the roll you just got a ‘1’ with is the roll to hit for a dog mine.

Hello
when rolling a 1 o the dog mine unit the dog is attacking a friendly unmoved vehicle within 18″ if this vehicle has recce does he have the escape reaction ?
Dog mines
One-shot weapon with a range of 18″. Can only target stationary vehicles. If Recce vehicle reacts by moving, treat as 2-3.
Roll a die:
1= hits closest friendly…[Read more] -

Overthinking is what I do. 🙂 And the “informal” nature of brigades back in those days is also something I am aware of (although I seem to remember that France made it more permanent under Turenne … but it is not really my time period, I just like the uniforms :D).
However, since I will hardly ever find someone in my area to play historical…[Read more]

Artillery was general divided into two categories… artillery of the “park” or reserve and small battalion guns for direct support. This approach remained the practice until artillery became lighter and more maneuverable and so larger caliber guns could be deployed in a more direct support role.
Brigades were first introduced as a tactical…[Read more]

Thanks for the answer.
Yeah, the artillery is immobile, so I might put them all in a single brigade (totally forgot about that …)Regarding larger brigades: I had a look at the Ramillies OOB, which is one of the reasons I didn’t mix cavalry and infantry in one brigade and kept the dragoons separate.
The infantry brigades on the French sides…[Read more]

Not having the appropriate campaign book I need to know if the aforementioned weapon system is available for any reinforced platoon or only in limited cases?

Garry Wills replied to the topic Query regarding brigade composition – War of Spanish Succession in the forum Black Powder 4 years, 5 months ago
I don’t play that period but the thing that pops out to me is the artillery. My understanding is that the artillery can’t be moved once unlimbered, but needs an order to change front, so you may need them in separate brigades with a specific commander. Odd number of units per brigade is pretty conventional. Have you looked at historical OOBs?…[Read more]

I recently got my hand on quite a few of War of the Spanish Succession miniatures and have been dividing them into units. I never really had a chance to play Black Powder, but do have the 2nd Edition rule book (and “Last Argument of Kings”) and was now wondering what would be a decent split into brigades once I get a chance to play. I am looking…[Read more]

The plastic US Airbourne has a sheet in it that says you can have two LMG plus a BAR per squad. The armoured support for the US Paras in Market Garden was mainly British 11th Armoured Division until later in the campaign when it was the British Guards Armoured Division.
