L.T. Russell replied to the topic Can Medic attendants shoot? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 8 months ago
I was a Light Infantryman for 17 years, retiring in 2000. Our medics always carried rifles, just like the rest of us. IIRC, the only person unarmed was the Chaplain. He did carry ammo for the MGs, though….

L.T. Russell replied to the topic BA Tournament Rules Question: Mounted HQ Having Rifle Carbines???? in the forum Bolt Action 2 years, 8 months ago
Howdy Gents! Neely, sounds like you ran into a serious jerk….
I’m still trying to figure out a real reason you can’t fire an SMG or assault rifle from horseback. It’s not like the sound would scare a horse that can handle rifle or pistol fire. I’ve fired both SMGs and assault rifles, they don’t recoil any more that a rifle. Is this just arb…[Read more]

Howdy Nat! IINM, max effective range for a standard military rifle, with iron sights, is gonna be something like 600 yards. To shoot a point target at a mile, you’d need a sniper-grade weapon, match ammo and a decent scope….AND be a better than average shooter. You could maybe hit an area target at a mile with iron sights. I made Sha…[Read more]

Howdy Attention Span Labs! Yeah, I’ve played my Germans against a couple of our Brit players and those squads full of MGs are murder. About the only saving grace is that Automated Infantry don’t hand-to-hand very well….IF I can get my Schreckwulfen and Nachtjaeger ON them. Schreckwulfen riding in Hanomags idea is what got me into Konflikt 47…[Read more]

Hmmm, I like that, Attention Span Labs! Could give the “thralls” Totenkorps stats/abilities, maybe have the “thralls” die off if the controlling “Vampress” is killed. I’m starting to flash on John Carpenter’s VAMPIRES….

I hear you, but I still worry about unit costs, even in scenarios that I’m designing.
“metagaming”?
We have some highly-ranked tournament players in our group, but I’ve got no interest there either. I will act as a sparring partner though, just ’cause I like to play….

Frau and the “Out for the Count” set with the chaplain and the vampire are both Bolt Action weird war lines and don’t have any rules in K47, or even in BA, as far as I can tell.
I like the Enthrall idea very much. Taking a different tack from the suggestion above, maybe make every unit within 6″ have to take a morale test before acting. If the…[Read more]

I did not realize that the Galahads each had an LMG! I assumed they were assault rifles, like everyone else’s powered armor. Wowzers. They also have both Resilient AND Tough, too. They’re slow, but since you can plop them in a Kangaroo, who cares about that?

You can certainly give the unit multiple order dice and use Snap-to-Action all the time if you want them to coalesce around him.
I have no opinion on the cost of the unit. I never play game with points and I don’t care about ‘competitive’ lists, metagaming, tournaments, and so on. I’m a scenario/campaign gamer.

Howdy folks! I game with a group at White Knight Games & Hobbies, in Helena, Montana. The Warlord Games gaming group meets every Wednesday evening around 6pm. Games can also be set up for almost any time the store is open, we usually play longer-running games on the weekend….

Howdy again Stuart! My continuing thanks for your patient and informed replies. I think the British Automated Infantry are a clever idea….however, while I have no problem with the idea of a 10 foot robot toting around an MMG or HMG and firing it from the hip, why aren’t they suffering a minus for using a crew-served weapon without having a crew and/or a range subtraction for not having the gun on a tripod? Same with the…[Read more]

Howdy Luke! I imagine you could use the Schreckwulfen rules for Frau Growler’s werewolf….
