I finally got a chance to see the brand new plastic German Veteran and US Airborne figures from Warlord Games. I have to say, they do look nice…
…but… well, talk about heroic scaling. Is this getting a bit out of hand? They are even more heroic scaled than the figures that started this post, so I can’t help thinking “Stay Puft Marshmallow…[Read more]

I still don’t understand that there was really someone at Warlord Games who thought that these rules made sense and were useful for the game.

So the panzer III reverses at best possible speed backwards towards the closest board edge
This would be advance speed halved – or 4.5″ as its a reverse.
It being a tank will run over any standard obstacles like a hedge, if it reaches something it cant go over (a building for example) it will make a pivot of up to 90deg in the direction that…[Read more]

OK, this is how it went;
I tried to get my Panzer III to fire, it had a pip, so needed to pass an order test.
The mysteron used his special powers and made me throw a double six, which of course is FUBAR.
I then rolled again, result of which was panic, move at the run directly to the nearest table edge.
The nearest table edge being 9 in…[Read more]

the wording is a bit ???? and needs cross referencing other parts of the rulebook and checking the errata/FAQ… (and I dont have a rulebook near me at the moment to give page numbers !)
but the meaning is IF you get a failed order check (with visable enemy in your front arc) / FURBAR runaway result you must move towards the closest board edge at…[Read more]

When a Vehicle suffers a FUBAR and a panic reaction to ‘execute a run order and move as fast as possible towards the closet table edge’, I can’t see how this can happen in many cases. For example in my game last night a tank after having moved straight on 9″ from the middle of long table edge suffered such a panic reaction. Performing a ‘run’…[Read more]

“It would have been easy enough to just put fixed in each artillery unit listing.” – It would have been even easier to simply NOT remove it between second and third editions. Maybe they were worried about line count adding up for all those artillery entries…?

Overall this adding to my disappointment in V3. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency or editing. If they put a rule on one page that says all artillery is fixed and don’t list it in the unit profiles, it seems like they should have put one rule that says all machine guns and mortars are team weapons and not put that in each profile, or list…[Read more]

1 ) the order die of a crewless gun is placed on the model – pg 126, 2nd paragraph ‘damage on artillery units’
2) the bit about order die being returned to the bag as normal on pg 127 is the die from the now recrewed gun!
3) unmanned guns are auto destroyed by enemy units moving to within 1″ – pg 126
3b) if no potential crew are on the table then…[Read more] -

Hi All,
In a recent game we had some issue with “dead” artillery.
For example, I had 2 autocannon within 12′ from each other. One autocannon lost all it’s crew. In the rulebook, it is said that you don’t need an order to re crew an artillery, so we assumed that, when the “dead artillery” dice come up, the other artillery crew can run toward…[Read more]

Thanks. That clarifies it. I was used to seeing the fixed rule in the unit profile and now it’s not there. However, it’s very clear from the artillery section cited that they are all fixed.

“I’m just noticing that V3 and the new V3 German list no longer give AT, AA, or HE guns the fixed rule. ”
See the Weapons Chart, MRB p92 and repeated p314. All those weapons have fixed in their entries on the chart. I can’t explain why Warlord felt the need to delete the fixed rule from the individual unit entries and rely on a re-wording of…[Read more]
