Sandbags – I’d say that you can use them for the mortar or MMG or both – I presume that there is a points cost for them – but I’d say that if you relocate during the battle you can’t take the sandbags with you. I would say that they are most likely to be used by the defender and put in position at the start of the game and they remain there…[Read more]

1. You can use the emplacements as terrain peices or as basing materials… which ever takes your fancy.. there is no right or wrong answer
2. Yeah you dont always get enough of the weapons you want in the boxs… for example the Soviet Infantry box doesnt give enough rifles… so if you can either use them then count as normal rifles when…[Read more]

Hello all!
I am a new Bolt Action Player. I have the Starter Set and have read into the rules. So far all is fine. I also have bought the Stalingrad Deluxe Battle Set. Here i have a question and two comments:
1. In the battle set every side has a mortar team and a mmg team. There are also two Sandbag emplacements. Are these for the mortar or for…[Read more]

Agree with the above with the exception of weapons/units with special rules that explicitly state they get additional attacks in close quarters – ie: adding a lance to a Polish cavalryman specifically gives him +1 attack. This is covered in the FAQ:
“Some units from first edition books, like Sgt Kenshiro, or Polish
lancers, have additional…[Read more] -

Poorly written rules, many repetitions, conflicting rules 🤷♂️
To avoid disputes, I would follow a rough reading of the rules. So the Russians follow their “Demolition Charges” rule and the Americans their “explosives” rule:
Americans can put explosives on obstacles and buildings.
Having said that by agreeing between players, the rules can be…[Read more] -

I agree with Masterchief.
N.1 damage roll per model.
Tough fighters or weapons with a special “assault” rule that succeeded on the damage roll, reroll a second time. -
Steeljackal replied to the topic Tank and turret pivots in the forum Bolt Action 5 years, 3 months ago
If you’re talking about moving for purpose of making indirect fire ranging reset, I’d say that a hull/chassis pivot in place would not count, nor would simply turning a turret. The key term being “in place”.
I just add how the movement must be done to reset the indirect shot adjustment. From rulenook “…to count as ‘moved’,…[Read more]

“…is a tank pivoting in place considered moving?”
Yes, because it requires an Advance order. Note that some gaming clubs and groups do not allow some vehicles like half-tracks, armored cars, jeeps, and trucks to pivot in place. This of course makes complete sense even though it is not in the rules.
“And if it just pivots its turret is that…[Read more]
