We’ve played a few games now using this little gem, and for games where both players create a point-based force of 1,000 to 1,500 points, it works surprisingly well. It really does take care of things like that silly ‘Going Down’ dice game, and of cou…[Read more]

Pardon if this has been answered before; but we just started playing and this question has brought some “”heated” discussion.
When uyou use a passive ability does it exhaust the rift die?
For instance my Schreckwulfen have a surging bonus of Increase Damage Value to 8+
Does this mean that as long as they have a surging rift die this is in…[Read more]

The solution would be to have Cover Saves in Direct HE and maybe even in Indirect HE. IMHO, the cover save should be higher than hard cover, maybe a +3 (to simulate the extra protection rule).
What do you guys think?
If you ask me, and you did (insert wink here), I think the EXTRA PROTECTION rule from Second Edition (see page 124) is the most…[Read more]

I’m increasingly resigned about the state of K47. The Warlord App still won’t update for me, and the Japanese army—great-looking models aside—remains saddled with rules so underwhelming they barely work on the table and have been passed over for any major review. The Shiboru Cannon is priced like a premium rift weapon, but its ability doesn’t…[Read more]

I’ve been thinking about how to improve the buildings without the Extra Protection Rule.

<p style=”text-align: left;”>I made a Reference Chart for Tactical Actions. Please review and let me know if there are any issues. I had to reduce wording to make it fit on one page. Thank you.</p>
I’m hoping posting this is ok with Warlord. -

Ok, I see your point … a big splash could be useful in some specific cases.

After many games now, I really miss the extra protection rule. Buildings are now even worse than ruins, and especially if you are fired with a HE round
I too miss the extra protection rule for the same reasons. However, because of a simple oversight or maybe because the shooting mechanic was changed (roll to hit, roll to damage, and now roll to…[Read more]

Kar98k replied to the topic Tanks firing against Soft-skin in the forum Bolt Action 3 months ago
You are correct, sort of, because recorded and photographic history does show AP was used against soft-skins, but overall, I get what you are saying. However, the situation you speak of is just a simple workable game mechanic, but to to answer you question, a player might like to fire HE to get the splash damage on other units (e.g. medium…[Read more]

Can they choose whether to use HE or AP (PEN) rounds?
Yes, they have both a pen value and a HE template size which fits the ‘for instance’ example given (anti tank guns, which also have a pen value and a HE template size) rather than only having ‘HE’ in the pen column. P100, Weapons, Weapon Special Rules, HE (High Explosive), first para. If…[Read more]

Dear Comrades,
I have some questions about autocannons, such as those in the Wirbelwind.
Can they choose whether to use HE or AP (PEN) rounds?
If fire against infantry, it must be HE, right?
What about against vehicles?
What about against infantry inside a building? How do we resolve the whole shooting process? Could somebody provide me with…[Read more]

After many games now, I really miss the extra protection rule.
Is there any possibility of reimplementing this rule in the v3 rulebook in a future errata or a future 3.5v???

Dear Comrades,
If a WW2 tank shot against a truck (soft-skin), it would have used HE and never an AP round because it could go through without even destroying the truck.
On page 97 in the manual, it says that if an AT gun fires against vehicles, including soft-skin, it can choose which one, HE or AP to use. But in the game, it would be a…[Read more]
