Howdy Gents!  Sorry I didn’t get back to this for so long.  I will attempt to throw out some thoughtful comments….

    Howdy Kar98k!

    5) No, I didn’t overlook Hitler’s Buzzsaw, I just think it’s heavily watered down.  Besides being belt-fed vs magazine-fed, MG34/42s fired two to three TIMES faster the any other countries MGs.  I think one extra die…[Read more]

  • I hear you Peter.  I also disagree with Nat’s theory of a B&P/comic book game.  I play Bolt Action precisely because it’s a historically-based WWII game.  I don’t play Bolt Action because it reminds me of THE HAUNTED TANK or SGT ROCK or SGT FURY AND THE HOWLING COMMANDOS.  I play it because I’m looking for that balance between playability and det…[Read more]

  • I disagree with that. It’s no longer a B&P game. The second edition can be described as such. BA third edition plays like a different timeline or a kind of multiverse. It has absolutely nothing to do with reality. For that kind of game, WLG actually has Conflict 47.

If you even equate weapons that could hardly be more different, then you don’t…[Read more]

… I humble recommend you look at  a system called chain of command by TFL (not Transport for London!) as Bolt Action doesnt seem to be the game for you…your comments (while with merit) are about the core fundimentals of how the system works… for what its worth (as Ive said else where) I’m focusing on other system and might leave Bolt Action…[Read more]

There is no such thing as just one correct colour outside of the factory!

All colours (be it paint or dye) fade with washing, wear and tear, sunlight etc.

Two identical bits of kit (be it armour, canvas or uniforms) treated exactly the same will alter colour at different rates.

  • I find all the various makes of paint alright to use. i use a paint brush, everybody has their own idea as to what the exact colour of British Olive Drab should be. I would go for Humbrol 155, but then I tend to give the vehicle a dark wash, highlight, dry brushing of dust and mud, so at the end of the day it could be any base colour. Thank…[Read more]

  • I just read the article on the new US Army Army book and I have a question. Who comes up with something so ridiculous? The rules for weapons (number of rounds and distance) make no sense at all anymore.

A light mortar in V3 now has the same range (36”) as an MG42. In reality, a light mortar had a range of approx. 550m and was intended for…[Read more]

  • I’ve noticed the MP 38 in the Afrika Korp plastics is smaller than the one on the new Veterans sprue. And yet the Veterans MG 34 drum magazine carrier is smaller than the one in the Winter German sprue.  No more just grabbing bits from the parts box without checking . Reminds me of 1/35 scale modelling back in the late 70s , lots of variation in…[Read more]

  • The topic with V3 starts with the rulebook itself. It is not possible for 80% to fully understand the rules if WL itself explains the rules incorrectly.

    Example:
    Page 96, diagram14

This diagram is shown incorrectly and the funniest and stupidest thing is that it was shown correctly in V2.
So they deliberately changed a picture, which is now…[Read more]

I use Vallejo and AK 3rd Gen with a brush and Vallejo Air and Tamiya with my airbrush.

  • im new to Bolt Action moving from 40k and im wondering whats the best paints to use to paint bolt action models with, ive got 2 thin coats, army painter fanatic, and a fair collection of Vallejo as well ive tried to do a mk6 Churchill not sure if i got the colours right or not but ive done my best using the vallejo paints.

  • … TBH I’d settle for getting a pickup gamer (or two) to proof read they systems rulebooks before printing!

Now you’ll never please 100% of people 100% of the time… [game companies tend to aim for 80% of readers understanding the book  if I remember correctly(!)…] and disgruntled people tend to be louder than happy people…but even the…[Read more]
