Barrel length and control are more important than caliber
Is an obrez a rifle?
Now you are just being silly… or trolling. If not the latter, go here:

If you want a fix it should be able to shoot like a rifle or assault at the players option. It was uncontrollable in full auto and doesn’t merit being an automatic rifle. (By capability nor doctrine).

Second edition “If a vehicle listed as a transport/tow picks a weapon option that means the transport loses it’s transport/towing ability, it no longer counts as a transport/tow for the purposes of force selection, but …” – the criteria is being a transport or tow that takes a weapon option that removes it’s transport capacity, and the…[Read more]

Oh, if that’s all one sentence then it’s a different matter entirely! Thanks for the help, I’ll excuse myself by saying that’s probably something that was much more obvious to someone familiar with the second edition rules.

“First obvious one, German halftracks with the rear-mg option taken would lose transport capacity, but are portrayed in the rulebook as transporting. Is the error here just with the pictures and expectation? Well, probably no because…”
You’ve misread the rule (at least in part due to an editing cock-up between editions replacing a comma with a f…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Question on US Armored platoon Recon Jeep in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 2 months ago
According to AoUS (p78), the reconnaissance jeep doesn’t have an upgrade option, just the MMG. The airborne armoured jeep comes with HMG as standard.

- Shouldn’t a recon jeep in armored platoon be able to upgrade to HMG? Plus the jeep in Recon platoon is for transport. Wondering if the Recon platoon could also take a Recon Jeep (mmg) in addition to transport jeep? Thank you.

Hi, just registered an account to ask people about a rules issue. I can’t find it being discussed before. Basically, the issue we’re running into as a few of us have started picking up BA is that we keep encountering problems where the Transport Vehicles & Tows rule in Force Selection (p.183)… doesn’t seem to work at all.
“If a vehicle listed…[Read more]

Still comes down to what kinda round does it fire. Assault rifles fire a reduced-length rifle cartridge. Automatic rifles fire a full-length rifle round….

The FG42 has a barrel 100mm shorter than a Kar 98 and 110mm shorter than a BAR. Do you think it may effect range? Also it kicked like a mule and was hard to control in full auto. Find a 8mm mauser with a 500mm barrel that shoots well over 400.The need for the fancy muzzle break/flash hider leads me to believe it also had alot of unburned powder at…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic M24 Chaffee riveted? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 2 months ago
Same effect as last time, just this time the author forgot to change the wording for the reason when cutting and pasting from the M3 Stuart entry. AoUS first edition wording for the M24 ‘Vulnerable’ rule was “Vulnerable: because of it’s light armour, all shots to the side and rear of the vehicle get an additional +1 penetration modifier (ie, in…[Read more]

The entry in the Armies of the United States says that the M24 is riveted this is incorrect. Even V3 gives it light armour still +1 penetration but fully welded.

@Wolfy,
Looks to be a supplement author goof mentioning Ambush when it’s not applicable.
The same rule in AoUS (Sherman Calliope, p63, and USMC International M2-4 Rocket Truck, p75) has deleted the bit in brackets, and with it any mention of Ambush.
