Though I do not play Black Powder currently I am curious as well. Black Powder, Pike and Shotte, and Hail Caesar! are all derived from the same sort of basket of eggs and I think they’re all quite successful and already wonderful as is. I am hoping that it is simply clarification on the rules with a few more additional items that the Black Powder and the other games were previously missing.

As for the cover…. I am still a fan of Black Lung Cigarettes!

Celts are an awesome army to start out with. As said, they fought so many different people. You can make “generic” looking Celts to represent Britons, Gauls, Galatians, etc.

The other benefit is that so many armies hired Celts as well. So if you ever say want to start a Carthaginian army and you already have a ton of Celts, you’ve got a good chunk of your army already there.

I’m working on a Punic War Republican Roman army and an allied mercenary group to fight under their banners, so I went and bought the celtic command sprue to fill up for a unit and a regiment of Numidian cavalry.

THEN shortly after the sprue sale came out ! Haha, so now I’m thinking of buying Caesarian Romans. I always buy 2-3 sprues per sale, and use them for conversions, but now I have so many that I think I may just build a Marian reformed army to play in the Late Republic. All the Gauls and Numidians I have can be used between the earlier Republicans / Caesarian forces, too.

I vary my bases for units. Skirmishers and light infantry are 20×20 mm single based because they can adopt open order but medium and heavy units are usually 40×40 mm . Just how I prefer them, though. Ultimately as mentioned though as long as the fronts of you and your opponent are equal then all is well and basing won’t matter.
