  • Warlord Games have just recommended a bundle that is on sale.

It is the Sd.Kfz 10 Demag Halftrack with LeiG 18 7.5cm infantry gun.

Normally £38 but they are offering it on sale for £36

But bought separately the prices are

    Sd.Kfz 10 – £20
    LeiG 18 – £13
    TOTAL – £33

Buying separately is £5 cheaper than the standard bundle price and £3 cheape…[Read more]

  • For those who have played, how does a SDKFZ222 match up against a BA3, 6 or 10?

Appreciate the Soviet armoured car has bigger armament, but wondering whether the features of the 20mm auto cannon  are a match.

What about german infantry against the BA-3, 6 or 10.

Would like a pair of armoured cars that are evenly matched.

    Little concerned that…[Read more]

  • I imagine it is because the Sahariana were like the LRDG or SAS, very small units and each soldier acted independently. The NCO were also more likely to get their hands dirty mucking in with the everyday stuff.

With a traditional infantry squad or section, if the NCO focussed on the LMG loader role than he would run the risk that the rest of the…[Read more]

  • 1) At the time, in reality, turretless tanks had the advantage of costing less to produce, but in the game it is not reproduced correctly with the point cost.

This sort of thing is always a challenge. The danger is that you can keep adding extra detail but then you lose the simplicity of the gameplay. You go from a fast and free flowing gaming…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the replies.  I’m not opposed to making stuff, my problem is just how daunting the scale is – not knowing what to build.

I really want a “here is a good list of staple items to get you going”.

And the price – I’ll be at a show and see a tree or a section of wall for a £5 and think “wow, so twenty each will be £200 and I’ve not eve…[Read more]

  • I have two armies, still need to finish building and painting them.  I find choosing and buying figures and vehicles but am bewildered to the point of standstill when it comes to scenery.

I have even been to war game shows but found the sheer range and number of sellers daunting, especially as you can’t seem to go to one place and say “I…[Read more]

I still light my idea of them being hidden until revealed.

The position of a traditional pill-box would have known with decent intelligence or reconnaissance but Panzernests could be deployed quickly.  Not fast enough to be positioned and deployed in a Bolt Action game but something that could have been deployed night before the attack so would…[Read more]

  • I get where you are coming from.  The White Scout Car had a rail that went around the perimeter of the whole crew compartment so weapons could be attached at any position and moved if required.

Whether weapons slid easily on that rail or needed to unclamped, removed and clamped is something I don’t know.

All the examples I have seen have had a…[Read more]

  • I’m in the UK so don’t suffer from any currency conversion fees with Warlord games but I still find their prices too expensive.

    • In the UK you can buy Warlord Games products significantly cheaper from other retailers.
    • Their one price fits all shipping discourages me from making small purchases.  For example, recently, I wanted a decal shee…

  • @Master Chief – as for their pricing models – wouldn’t count on writing in getting you anywhere.  I regularly get sent emails from Warlord asking me to complete a survey – just did another just a few days ago.  Each time I explain that I don’t like their pricing models and why that is the primary reason why I buy so little directly from them.…[Read more]

  • Just look at other 28mm figure manufacturers.  The sculpt and stature style may not be a perfect match for Bolt Action figures but for the occasional figure(s) I don’t think it would be that noticeable.

Just one example, I’m sure there are many others out ther…[Read more]

    Here are my thoughts.

To be honest, I had never heard of these before your post so thank you very much for bringing them to my attention.

So what I have read, this is how they worked.

It was carried upside down on a carriage pulled either by horses or a motorised vehicle.

The soldiers would dig a hole/trench for it, back the trailer up to it,…[Read more]

  • My thinking it is effectively a Nashorn but without the upper superstructure.

In theory it has 360 firing arc but I doubt it would ever have been deployed like that, still very much firing at stuff to the front.

Being attacked by AP or HE the Nashorn would work well though you could argue that it was more susceptible to HE as it dies not have an…[Read more]

  • Can’t see anything either and checked quite a few of the Bolt Action books.  I would be inclined to use stats similar to the Nashorn but with a bigger firing arc.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

  • I can only think it would have been an MG34 or MG42 mounted on the front wall of the cargo area, with the barrel pointing over the top of the cab and the gunner stood in the cargo area.

I have seen models configured like that but not any real archive pictures.

    Cheers,

    Nigel

  • I didn’t realise that they had SMG units so early on.

Personally, I wanted mostly rifles, but with such big squads (up to 12 in Bolt Action I recall off the top of my head, though all my historical research has found the limit to be 11) even the free green squad of riflemen takes a big chunk out of the available rifles.

I think throughout the w…[Read more]

  • Sandbags – I’d say that you can use them for the mortar or MMG or both – I presume that there is a points cost for them – but I’d say that if you relocate during the battle you can’t take the sandbags with you.  I would say that they are most likely to be used by the defender and put in position at the start of the game and they remain there…[Read more]

  • As said above, Perry go for more anatomically correct sculpts whereas Warlord go for more chunky heroic sculpts.

  • Yes the putty idea is what I was referring to as filler.

I can see how that would work brilliantly for figures 60mm base with a support weapon because the rise of the putty from plastic edge to metal base is quite shallow whereas on a 25mm bases the metal base is almost as wide as the as the 25mm base so the slope of the putty would be pretty steep.
