I asked this on the FB forum, Here’s Rick’s reply….

Rick Priestley Hi Gerry – sorry might have missed this one – is the question ‘how do you take into account the Undead rule of the bodyguard when the Necromancer does not have said rule?

This is something I should have spotted and sorted out but obviously didn’t – but this is how I’ve played it and I think this is the best and easiest take on it:

The unit is the Necromancer (i.e. not undead) so basically treat the unit as not undead so long as the Necromancer is extant.

Treat the individual bodyguard models as undead and apply the rules that are specific to individuals – i.e. choking attacks, venomous attacks – but ignore the rules that affect the whole unit – i.e. cannot be routed and terror. Dread is a funny one because it’s a mix – but apply the strength penalty for enemy fighting the bodyguard – ignore the rest (to keep things relatively simple).

That means – broadly speaking – the Necromancer doesn’t gain the advantages of being undead – but then again if you want all that there is the Liche option – which is exactly what it’s there for: Liche/Undead, Necromancer/not-undead.

I think that’s the easiest method – the only bit I went to and fro with was the Acc penalty for dread (because you shoot at a unit rather than an individual) but on the whole I thought it was better to stick with the ‘individual’ concept as above.

Depends if the Cav were in LOS of the Archers and had a run order on them or not, makes a big difference.

I have 3 x 8 Spear armed Dwarf combat units. I think you’ll find you are facing full size units especially with armies like Barbarians, Goblins, Undead and Orcs.

THe Artillery piece has 1 attack ( unless specified like the organ gun as you say ). The crew have a HtH attack.

You only take Tiger Fear if you can see the Tiger at the start of your activation You don’t however take the test if you are firng at the Tiger.

You have to take 3 Inexpierienced squads before you can have the ” free ” squad. The free squad has to be the size of the smallest unit of those 3. eg If they are all 10 man squads then the free squad can be 10 men but if one of the squads was only 5 men then the freeone could only have 5 men.

If you are up against the wall the unless he assaults he has to stay an inch away. You will get cover to shooting whilst he will not.

You also have to allow for long range but get it back for point blank range. Small vehicle Flamethower only do d6 damage.

All Sniper teams die if they team is hit by exceptional damage. The actual entry for the US Sniper says a Sniper and a Spotter like all the others. If one was still allowed to fire when one died they would be a differmt points value.

All weapons get 1 dice each in assault in v2. Assault weapons now get a reroll if they make a successful kill with the first dice, two dice for assault weapons was version 1.

We only ever use laser pointers if there is a query about los when a unit comes to fire…. so hardly ever used. I don’t think that laser pointers should be used for pre movement to allow for finding cover or LOS. Part of the game v actual is all about making that judgement ( good or bad ) and the risk.
