<p>In GH p54 light wood assumed a spread of small trees younger trees with some undergrowth. Not a managed orchard and not the hundreds of years old Wilderness.</p>
<p>As for speed they are treated as in rough ground. In BP1 p36 this means that they can enter the light wood but move at 1/2 speed.</p>

<p>Cavalry dismount as skirmishers because that&#8217;s what they did. I&#8217;ve never read pf them being formed in ranks and files when fighting on foot.</p>

<p>1) keep it simple</p>

My own preferred scale was 15mm for ACW and for Naps it&#8217;s 28mm &#8211; but I use 36 figure units, not 24. <p>It&#8217;s really dependent on size of units and the brigade frontages. that was the problem from the start, with some folks having physically smaller units than others and now with the &#8220;epic&#8221; scale it&#8217;s even more fluid with potentially 100 figure regts. I hope that helps in some small way?</p>

In a British bttn it&#8217;s only 1/10, so about 60 men. The questions should be is the effect about right. I think the answer is &#8220;yes&#8221;.</p>

I&#8217;ve read that French Eagles were issued to infantry at one per regt, carried by the 1st or 2nd battalion and look remarkably like the 1812 issue during the 1st Empire. I&#8217;ve also read that whilst the tricolour was attached to the eagle, the other battalions carried &#8220;fanions&#8221;. Does anyone have any idea what these looked like?</p>
