It actually looks like a pretty good deal, a light mortar that can fire directly and is 10 points cheaper. But can move and fire.

Hey guys, how does this wild idea sound?: Adding a 57mm M18 recoilless howitzer to my army. Now, it only has a pathetic 1″ HE template, but it is ONLY 30 points for an order dice, it can fire 48″ directly or up to 60″ indirectly, and since it’s so small my opponent might ignore it which will allow it to wreck his weapons teams.
And it would be…[Read more]

Oh ok, that’s an interesting perspective that I never considered, thanks.
Yeah that makes more sense, although my “USS Indianapolis 1944” is still getting it’s stern handed to it by a 50 point “Fubuki”.
So I guess my best bet to still play historical, because I do like naval history, but balance it out a bit, because I play games to have fun, is…[Read more]

Well, the long lance torpedo had a crazy long range. More than once allied forces returned to old course, thinking having succeeded in outrunning them. Then: Bang.
The rules do just reflect reality.
Playing pacific I would expect that the USN was inferior in that aspect. Late war radar and new tactics changed that. 41-43 I would expect a Ja…[Read more]

Oooh, that sounds interesting. And they get some cool toys like the Patton tank…

Ah ok, glad that it’s not just me then. When it reached the point where a 10-year old spammed my fleet with torps and I lost in 3 turns, I started to have doubts about my abilities.
Thank you, it looks like I’ll be 3d printing some aircraft carriers and Atlanta class cruisers, and using more Fletchers.
I wish that the starter set maybe included…[Read more]

The ship selection in the starter set is abysmally bad.
IJN torpedoes are made to kill big ships – anything from a CA (heavy cruiser) upwards. They are very good at that. They are not as good at killing DDs and CLs. Guess what the starting set gives the USN? That’s right – heavy cruisers, that are made to be murdered by IJN torps.
The USN (and…[Read more]

Aidan, another option for your American army would be Korean War. They used basically the same uniforms, equipment, vehicles as later war WWII. Ya just gotta mind a Korean and/or Chinese opponent….

wAbout replied to the topic M51 Multiple Machine Gun Carriage (quad .50 cal), what tow? in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 11 months ago
In our group we talked about this and it feels little bit harsh to classify this as heavy AA gun. It weights only little over 1000 kg and has wheeled trailer on it. I could imagine that it would be easily towed even with 4WD jeep. In contrast german flak 88 weights almost 7,5 tons (although this is super heavy AA gun).

As someone who has been playing against the US forces for years, I will list all their weaknesses here:
— none.
Your choice is fine.

Aidan replied to the topic M24 Chaffee versus M4 Sherman 75mm in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 11 months ago
Also, kind of related to the Chaffee question, I want a Jeep to go in my armored car slot. Would putting a MMG or a HMGon it be best? I’m kinda torn between the two, MMG is cheaper and has more shots. HMG has pen, so it can threaten veterans, soft skins, armored cars, or even light tanks from the side. But it costs 10 more points than a MMG. Thoughts?

I think he meant “barring niche”, as in “books will bring all units (barring niche ones) from the campaign books together”

Hey L.T. Russel!
Holy cow, they had a dedicated reverse driver? I gotta research that. Efficiency at its peak…
Wow, that sounds terrifying. So if I ever play Konflikt 47, I need autocannons or a M16 quad HMG, *Takes notes*. I gotta try K47 one day…. But maybe I should start Bolt Acion first lol. Can’t put the cart before the horse.
Ah, ok.…[Read more]

Thanks L.T. Russel, I think once I have my troops painted up on the table storming the beaches I’ll realize that I made a good choice. I’ve designed my army to be super flexible, so if I try something and it doesn’t work, I can just swap it out. Yeah I’ve seen those people with massive armies before, here I am budgeting to afford paints…. That…[Read more]
