PeterParticipantOk guys … thoughts please and I was the French!!
twice different Russian infantry units in the redoubt were broken and removed due to supporting and/or potentially supporting units in combat outside being broken in combat
definitely changed the battle???

PeterParticipantI just sort of struggle with line ,yet I acknowledge the firing or combat restrictions , I know BP says a line can bend etc but they were not covering acres if space????

PeterParticipantOk I see what you both are saying but if there’s a batter they’re then the infantry is in the rear line or column . If no battery is it like a building ? Yes if it’s enclosed perhaps but I’d there is an exposed rear to it . Now I’m gaming Shevadorino so it has a rear facing

PeterParticipantdoesn’t the artillery ignore skirmishers only apply to skirmishers outside of 12″ otherwise all modifiers ie -1 apply?/. p56

PeterParticipantok I see what you mean Al thanks for reply…it was just on p35 at quick read it mentions the word retreat(which covers all I suppose shaken/retire/break etc) and I now notice the important word there is “shaken ” can’t return at all

On their Facebook pageFebruary 9, 2020 at 11:17 am #174124
PeterParticipantDave it was a couple of months ago they did a battle Munchausen ( did it twice)I believe it was called and used General figures on table at the start with several dummies too . Which moved a certain distance until they were with in a certain visibility range then deployed the relevant formations on table as they became known . They use 2 movement distances for infantry and cavalry Generals initially until they deploy after being observed or removed if dummies
I just liked the premise it takes away the usual I place on table to match what you haveFebruary 9, 2020 at 9:40 am #174119
PeterParticipantAl, I’d be wary of ignoring buildings altogether as they were assaulted ,often taking up large resources and and effort/time in battles . I been in games where opponents totally avoided them meaning their inclusion on the table becomes somewhat irrelevant. Then think of say about Ligny /Waterloo, where villages or just buildings were seen as having to be held/taken -salient points or valuable ground. Just my thoughts after seeing opponents either march past or take a diversion away from such areas and it just looks as if the periods realities of battle and plans from both the attacker/defenders perspectives are being put aside
