Simple question to kick off the forums: Would you prefer to see multi-engine bombers printed as cardboard markers like the BoB box or as actual models? If you prefer the model option, how many bombers of each type do you think you would initially buy (always room for more later)?

Actual models! Please no cardboard markers, that hurts my eyes! 😉

I haven’t actually played the game (yet) But I would definitely prefer models. Mostly because that would be a big part of why I’d buy the game.

Without a doubt, models. Probably in 3s?

Models, and I already have several Zvezda 1/200 bombers and transport planes ready 🙂

I own B-17s and B-25s but would love to see the Japanese G4M Betty. I have some 1:200 Japanese banners with doctrine waiting for them.

Have you not heard? 2nd wing is on its way! Whatever could it have in store for us?

    I need some 1:200 scale Heinkels 111, Do-17, and Ju-88’s!!!

Models over cardboard every time here, given they typically worked in flights of three I’d go for boxes of three. Given the scale of the game unlikely to get more than one flight of most, though perhaps Ju87 and similar ground attack bombers could see two flights.

I would like to see the advantage base engineered to work for a B-29.

Find myself pondering the flight stands and larger aircraft, expecting the stand to be somewhat larger and likely tilt by somewhat less. that or larger craft get a rigid stand and a counter that can be flipped or removed for the three states.

The bomber flight stand is actually a sabot to accept a standard BRS advantage base – the prototype I saw worked very well with twin engined aircraft such as Ju88s

If you haven’t seen yet, plastic bombers are now up for pre-order. There’s some odd decision making going on, though. I would have thought that Warlord Games would push out a bomber set for each of the five starting nations. And there are five new multi-engine escortable targets being released. But instead of getting one plane for each of the five nations, it’s bombers for Great Britain, Germany, and the USSR, and transports for Germany and the USSR.

What gives? Transports will no doubt be nice. But I have a hard time seeing what makes the JU-52 so amazingly different from the JU-88 that Warlord Games had to hold off on releasing bombers for the US and Japan to get the JU-52 out the door sooner. I’m guessing that the transports will have different weapons arcs, and likely a few minor special rules will be different for each of the planes. But at the end of the day, their purpose within the game is to serve as multi-engine targets. What makes the JU-52 so amazingly different from the JU-88 when there are nations that still need multi-engine targets released?

I’ve just add a closest look at them on the store and noticed they are quite different from the fighters at the modelling point of view.
Those will require assembly, will have props, gears and various appendices that may need extra cares when storing them.
It won’t be a no go for me but I like the fact that the fighters can be handled without worry.

Still I don’t know if I will get all of them as I’m not sure the transports will introduce something really new. But if they come with interesting scenario, why not.

As @Eumerin said before, it’s a bit sad that all the faction don’t have their own in the incoming wave.

I hope that the Pacific theatre will see some expansion soon.
