Special Offers: British Airborne

no comments

Here at Warlord Games we’re always willing to offer you a fair deal. With the release of our Bolt Action Miniatures British Airborne, we felt it only suitable that we drop these excellent offers on you (you see what we did there – we know humour…):

Raiding Force!

The British learnt quickly from Germany’s mass use of paratroops, and by 1942 the Parachute regiment was mounting its first pin-prick raids against the occupying German forces across the channel. An example would be the famous Bruneval raid, where a young, but soon to become legendary, Major John Frost led a hand-picked group of paras to land and capture the Würzburg radar station.

Raiding Force!

The night assault was a splendid success. Stealing back vital components that enabled British scientists to see how far the Germans had caught up in the electronic war. The withdrawal by motor torpedo boats and covering troops on the beach was a text book model of how successful air and seaborne raids could be.

Warlord’s Red Devils are just the sort of chaps you’ll want to outsmart Jerry!

The Raiding Force deal contains:

• Red Devils boxed set (4-man command, 10 man section, Vickers HMG team and 2-man PIAT team)

• 10-man section

• 3″ Mortar team

• Specialists (two Snipers, two 2-man PIAT teams and two 2″ mortars)

Merville Battery 1

Merville Battery

As the Parachute regiment gained divisional status, larger and more dangerous operations fell into the lap of the airborne forces. D-day provided all manner of possible targets for the Red Devils, and a dangerous battery of 100mm German howitzers in casemate fortified gun emplacements were positioned to enfilade Sword beach. That could not be allowed.

9th battalion was sent in to capture the battery. It would be no picnic, as apart from the four guns, there were three 20mm flak posts and a garrison of 130 German troops, dug in and well armed.

Merville Battery 2

The Paras, after an RAF bombing run, went in largely unsupported as their jeeps, mortars and anti tank guns had not arrived, but close-in fighting suited the paratrooper mentality. Over sixty of the assaulting British Paratroopers were killed or wounded in the assault, whereas the garrison had only 6 men alive or unwounded when the shooting stopped – testimony to the savagery of the fight.

Warlord’s airborne warriors give you more than enough spirited chaps to overun any gun battery that is foolish enough to open fire on you. And this time, there is plenty of support in case the attack bogs down, or the Jerries whistle up a panzer or two!

The Merville Battery deal contains:

• Red Devils boxed set (4-man command, 10 man section, VIckers HMG team and 2-man PIAT team)

• Two 10-man sections

• 3″ Mortar team

• Specialists (two Snipers, two 2-man PIAT teams and two 2″ mortars)

Operation Market Garden 2

Operation Market Garden

Few of you will not have heard of the incredible achievements of the three Allied Airborne divisions, Britain’s 1st Airborne (and attached Polish formations), and the two American divisions, 82nd and the 101st. All three had different objectives, but with one aim, to jump the Rhine and shorten the war.

Operation Market Garden 1

It was a bold plan – too bold as it turned out. A combination of overstretch on the Allies’ behalf and quick German reaction meant that, ultimately, the isolated paratroopers were ground down. The British elements fought pretty much to the end in the streets of Arnhem.

We offer you a host of British forces so you can recreate the landing grounds around Arnhem bridge, including the rare Tetrach tanks and airborne jeeps laden with batteries for the radios and providing pulling power for the six pounders defending the shrinking perimeter.

Operation Market Garden 3

All you need now is to put on a plummy British voice, and hope that XXX Corps are thundering like General Custer to the rescue!

The Operation Market Garden deal contains:

• Two Red Devils boxed sets (each with 4-man command, 10 man section, VIckers HMG team and 2-man PIAT team)

• Four 10-man sections

• 3″ Mortar team

• Specialists (two Snipers, two 2-man PIAT teams and two 2″ mortars)

• 6lber Anti-tank gun

• Airborne Jeep

• Tetrarch airlanding light tank

• Vickers HMG team

• 3 Airborne Jeeps
