Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Rules Questions in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 2 weeks ago
“First obvious one, German halftracks with the rear-mg option taken would lose transport capacity, but are portrayed in the rulebook as transporting. Is the error here just with the pictures and expectation? Well, probably no because…”
You’ve misread the rule (at least in part due to an editing cock-up between editions replacing a comma with a f…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Question on US Armored platoon Recon Jeep in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 2 weeks ago
According to AoUS (p78), the reconnaissance jeep doesn’t have an upgrade option, just the MMG. The airborne armoured jeep comes with HMG as standard.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic M24 Chaffee riveted? in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 2 weeks ago
Same effect as last time, just this time the author forgot to change the wording for the reason when cutting and pasting from the M3 Stuart entry. AoUS first edition wording for the M24 ‘Vulnerable’ rule was “Vulnerable: because of it’s light armour, all shots to the side and rear of the vehicle get an additional +1 penetration modifier (ie, in…[Read more]

@Wolfy,
Looks to be a supplement author goof mentioning Ambush when it’s not applicable.
The same rule in AoUS (Sherman Calliope, p63, and USMC International M2-4 Rocket Truck, p75) has deleted the bit in brackets, and with it any mention of Ambush.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Down troops and objectives in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 3 weeks ago
I’m pretty sure you can’t see it because there isn’t such a rule, and hasn’t been in either of the two previous editions to the best of my memory. Next time someone tells you there is, place the onus on them to show you the rule (and please do come back to share if he can show you one).
They may be getting confused with the Demolition mission,…[Read more]

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Where is the Sdkfz 250/11 in v3? in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 3 weeks ago
AoG, p85, It’s in the Armoured Cars part of the army list with the 250/10. Making the 250/11 requires taking one of the options, so you might only see the 250/10 in the app.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Did warlord get the US 57mm Recoilless Rifle wrong? in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 3 weeks ago
@L.T. Russel – AoUS third edition pre-orders have already reached quite a few people. The 57mm and 75mm RCLs are one entry and other than lacking the gun shield option, are the same as a light howitzer – missed opportunity to make them an infantry team.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic The FG42 in Bolt Action, and how easy it is to fix the error. in the forum Bolt Action 10 months, 3 weeks ago
@Michael – also note your reference image for the FG42 doesn’t suggest the effective range is only 300m, it states that they weren’t able to get meaningful results beyond that range due to conditions on the day, then goes on to say ‘… although analysis of the following indicates that no critical deviations are anticipated at longer ranges.

@Peter, it wasn’t in the Armies of… book. It’s a campaign book unit, Road to Berlin, p110.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Can Guns Move and Shoot in V3 in the forum Bolt Action 12 months ago
“It would have been easy enough to just put fixed in each artillery unit listing.” – It would have been even easier to simply NOT remove it between second and third editions. Maybe they were worried about line count adding up for all those artillery entries…?

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Can Guns Move and Shoot in V3 in the forum Bolt Action 1 year ago
“I’m just noticing that V3 and the new V3 German list no longer give AT, AA, or HE guns the fixed rule. ”
See the Weapons Chart, MRB p92 and repeated p314. All those weapons have fixed in their entries on the chart. I can’t explain why Warlord felt the need to delete the fixed rule from the individual unit entries and rely on a re-wording of…[Read more]

No. You can only shoot at the moving unit that triggers the ambush.

The medic rule is only from the medic model itself, not any attendants – “If the medic’s own unit, or any friendly infantry or artillery unit that has a model within 6″ of the medic model itself, suffers damage from small arms fire…”.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic German horse drawn artillery officer. in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 1 month ago
I’m not seeing any option for German officers to be mounted at all. The provision for mounting officers in the second edition was dependent on having cavalry squads in your force – a limber is not a squad.

Stuart Harrison replied to the topic Soviet Dog Mines in the forum Bolt Action 1 year, 1 month ago
I’d put that down to a probable anomoly where they haven’t yet considered the rule interaction between a ‘weapon’ which is fired normally, with it’s own ‘to hit’ mechanics, then runs under the target to detonate (why no pen modifiers appy) and the newly introduced cover save, which would apply to ‘fired as normal’, unless stated…[Read more]

As written, it’s more like a fur-coated panzerfaust than a suicide AT. It is a one shot weapon that is ‘fired as normal’ except that it has it’s own ‘to hit’ process using the chart instead of modifiers.
