Due to popular demand we’re expanding the concept out to some of our other systems – and this week, we’re proud to announce that we’re launching the ‘Build an Army’ tool for Napoleonic British, French, and Russian forces!

En avant! The cry went up in hundreds of French throats as the blue columns marched forward on the battlefields across Europe. The all conquering French line infantry ‘Les Bleus’ used a combination of massed columns, fast manoeuvre, and firepower to shatter the armies of Prussia, Austria, Spain and Russia, culminating in a death struggle against Wellington and Blucher’s alliance at Waterloo in 1815.

So – what type of army composition will you choose with our new ‘Build an Army’ tool? – We’ve packed it with as many options as we can think-up!

Napoleonic Russian ‘Build an Army’

Brave, stubborn and resilient they had to cope with poor conditions, worse supplies and a cadre of mostly incompetent officers. Whenever western observers spent time with the Russian army they were constantly amazed by the sheer tenacity and good humour of the average infantryman in the face of adversity.

Many thousands of men were pushed through the Imperial war machine to take to the fields of Europe in defiance on Napoleon. Often they were on the receiving end of awful punishment but rarely wavered. French officers were in awe of their ability to stand artillery fire, cavalry charges and the famous French attack columns which were used to sweeping all before them.

So – you’ve chosen to join the Russian ranks? – take a look through all of the various options on offer, as there’s a wealth of units available – including the elite Pavlovsk Grenadiers – and plenty of Russian guns to choose from!

…and don’t forget…

If you’re just starting-out in the world of Napoleonic wargaming, there’s no better place to start than our excellent ‘Black Powder’ rulebook – which contains all of the rules you’ll need to get started, as well as a wealth of historical information to help you on your way.

Black Powder is the game for gentlemen with straight backs, bristling beards and rheumy eyes that have seen a thing or two. If tales of battle and glory in days-gone-by stir nothing in your breast, if the roar of cannon does not quicken the pulse and set fire in the belly, then this is not the rule set for you. These rules are not a light hearted adventure but one to be tackled by the strong heart.

The Black Powder Rulebook is a full colour, 184 page hard back book which covers warfare from 1700-1900. It’s pages are packed with full colour photographs and illustrations, including not one, not two… but SEVEN Battle Reports, and a handy reference sheet – all written by none other than Rick Priestley and Jervis Johnson!
