    Hi,

    Since my first game, I can’t stop thinking about a 2v2 game but didn’t get the opportunity to try it yet.

    The idea is to have each player play his own squadron.
    I’m going with 2×6 Spitfire and 2×6 Me 109 squadrons each with a different painting schema at the moment. If it works, I’m considering th engage several kind of squadron on the same side depending on what will be available in the future (2 Zeros sq. vs 1 Mustang and 1 Corsair sq. maybe).

    In the Spitfire/Me 109 scenario it’s easy to play it as the planes have similar specs, so the basic dice roll for pilot level is enough. Mixing plane type will require a deeper cost-based squadron building phase.

    I may have a try first with a smaller size (2 planes per squadron), but I think i could be fun.

    Did anyone already tried it?

    Not tried it, I like the idea though. The way the turn sequencing works should make multi-player games (indeed with asymmetric teams as well) perfectly workable.

    May indeed actually be a pretty sensible way to handle larger games, give a player the role of squadron leader and run with it

    Large game may be indeed quite long but I think it may be worth it for an afternoon play.

    Speaking of asymmetrical gameplay, I didn’t play any bomber scenario so far, so I don’t know if they will fit with this, but
    I fear that the bomber squad leader may find it a bit boring.

    But after all, it could be even more historical this way ^^

    not tried the bombers yet either, waiting for some models really.

    maybe give the bomber flight commander the “close in” fighter escort, and a second player the more flexible escorts?

    gives the nice focus to the bomber commander to try and keep the bombers alive, with a few fighters tasked specifically to that, while the fighter player goes for glory?

    Great idea. A 3xbombers 2xfighters squadron and à full 6 fighters one may work but the opposition may requires more thanks two 7 fighters squadrons.

    Anyway I still need to figure how a normal bomber scenario and the basic 2v2 mode work first.

    By the way, Tabletop anarchy made a 2 Vs 2 game video Here and it seems as fun as I expected.
    I really need to try it.

    Have played a couple now – no problems with turn sequence and basic rules. Some of the cards work better if you don’t have two in play at the same time – found it best for one player to have the scenario cards and the other to use the table options for the theatre of play. The other issue is do you decide on applying hits boom chits etc as one squadron of 12 planes or 2 flights of six. It’s easier to do the later but can leave the other player hopelessly outnumbered if one is driven off but maybe more realistic if you loose one flight that the other runs too as a squadron or play that no one breaks until the squadron limit is exceeded. Depends on how long you want the game to last……

    My idea is to have each player his own squadron.
    It means that, yes, the game can continue as a 2 vs 1 game but I think it won’t be an issue.
    Either the second squadron is already in bad shape and the game will end even quicker, or, as the first squadron can also help to push back one of the enemy’s before leaving the fight.
    In the later case it will end as a normal 1 vs 1 game.

    Your point about the card is interesting, I’m still wondering how to deal with them. One shared deck or two decks?

    My view is separate decks for traits and doctrine and a shared pool of theatre cards. For Ace cards i’d Say that each side shares an ace pool to choose from rather than a set between two opponents otherwise you can deny a skill to the opposition which doesn’t seem realistic.
