SteinerParticipantDear Comrades,
If a WW2 tank shot against a truck (soft-skin), it would have used HE and never an AP round because it could go through without even destroying the truck.
On page 97 in the manual, it says that if an AT gun fires against vehicles, including soft-skin, it can choose which one, HE or AP to use. But in the game, it would be a disadvantage to use a HE because the PEN value is lower … So, it is better to use the higher PEN value of the AP round. It seems a bit unrealistic, doesn´t it?

Kar98kParticipantYou are correct, sort of, because recorded and photographic history does show AP was used against soft-skins, but overall, I get what you are saying. However, the situation you speak of is just a simple workable game mechanic, but to to answer you question, a player might like to fire HE to get the splash damage on other units (e.g. medium howitzer has a 3 inch template).

SteinerParticipantOk, I see your point … a big splash could be useful in some specific cases.
