Jim RipleyParticipantJust opened up my new Soviet Army Infantry platoon box and all 5 sprues have a short shot ( meaning the plastic didn’t completely fill the mold ) on part 36, a pair of arms holding a Mosin – Nagant rifle with extended bayonet . None have the end of the barrel and bayonet molded . It’s an eaasy fix though if you use the rifle end from part 33 , arm holding rifle . Hopefully it was just a minor slip up , and further production will fix the problem .

Jim RipleyParticipantWell it seems to be a QC problem , as a sprue I’ve just received from a online seller ( 4 months after I got my 1st box ) is also missing the bayonet on the same part . Come on Warlord , sort it out

Kar98kParticipantFrom the picture, it looks like it might have broken off. Maybe when it was pulled.
Anyway, I have experienced this, but not all that common. That is, certain plastic parts being broken or almost broken. Maybe from packaging or maybe when pulled from the machine. Either way, I’ve notice some bits are more prone to this than others.
It happens to all plastic model kits. For me rare, but it has happened.
I remember a time when one of my props (of a three-prop hub) for a 1:72 Spitfire was broken off. For some reason though, the broken off prop was still in the parts bag (boxed kit), but just not attached to the part like the other two props. I can even remember getting a plastic kit (1:144 Boeing B-17) and seeing a part (engine cowling) was missing (broken off) from the sprue. The parts bag was still unopened, but the part itself was not in the bag, so it must have been left behind at the factory. Regardless, Academy Models was nice enough to send me a new part.

LeeParticipantI think it’s the image thats wrong, I just took a look at this sprue picture on warlords page .. no bayonet

Jim RipleyParticipantSorry Lee , that rifle is part 34 and has a bayonet folded against the barrel, not part 36 . Its got to be a short shot or a really tight mold gate which snaps the part off , as I’ve had 7 sprues with the same problem . There are 2 other rifles with extended bayonet per sprue so if you have platoon box you could figure it out with a little surgery and super glue . And speaking of missing parts , I’ve built 3 of the Warlord plastic Jagdtigers , all were missing the bow machine . Nothing in the sealed bags so it broke on when the plastic came out of the mold I guess . Lucky I have a deep parts box with spares from WG & Rubicon kits . Still bloody annoying though

Kar98kParticipantJim, I just checked my plastic Jagdtiger kit (Warlord/Italeri), and the hull machinegun is still on the sprue.
Now here is the question. Why did I pick up a Jagdtiger kit?
March 5, 2026 at 7:09 pm #191735
Jim RipleyParticipantI often ask myself that question as 2 of the 3 I built are mine . I ended up building one with a bunch of FJ tank riders and built the other as knocked out . Still haven’t figured out how to replicate the rear casement doors open , so just tacked the panel in place , might get around to it one day . Missing small parts are probably just a symptom of someone not caring and yanking the sprues out of the mold . Its the partial molded pieces which is the real PIA . I’ve probably built over 100 Warlord plastic vehicles and except for the missing Jagdtiger bow guns I’ve only had one Stalin tank with a small “bite” out of the lower hull tub . Easy enough to fix as the road wheels and suspension arms are a full side piece which covered it up . We won’t go into the problems that show up on some of the Resin vehicles here …..
