ParticipantHas anyone created a profile for a two-man LMG independent unit with the option to add a third man? I think they would make sense in some cases like a partisan command or commando command, where heavier equipment was less available and mobility was more important. It’s negative would be 4 shots vs 6 shots, but its positive would be the ability to advance and shoot.

ParticipantHowdy Mike! This is just based on my experience as a light infantryman. Generally speaking, LMG teams don’t move around by themselves, they’re usually attached to some other unit; either attached to a squad to beef up a squad-level mission, or with the other LMG team and a fire team for security as part of the support element in a platoon-sized operation. Generally speaking, the patrol leader doesn’t move with/direct the fire of the gun teams. The leader moves with the maneuver element. Usually the assistant patrol leader/platoon sergeant directs the support element’s fires. IDK why Warlord Games doesn’t allow LMG teams as an independent element, there ARE every other kinda teams; AT rifle teams, flamethrower teams, MMG teams, etc, etc. Then again, I’ll fall back on my usual arguments; A) In WWII, the Germans were the only army with an ACTUAL LMG, everyone else was using an automatic rifle, except for the few US units that had the 1919A6 Brownings. B) I content that most a the game designers at Warlord don’t actually know squat about firearms. One guys $.02….

NatParticipanterm… the Bren was an LMG not an automatic rifle…
also How a weapon is used is part of how a weapon is charcatised…. for example MMGs are just a game distinction, they were either light (squad) or heavy machine guns!
Next point is … its a game that has more in line with comic books of the 80s & 90s + Hollywood films over historical accuracy – look at some of the units included in the game!

NatParticipantto answer to the OPs question … where would you put it? as a squad (where 3-4 man squads are deemed too small…) as a weapons team – now its in direct comparision to the MMG & LMG teams and to be honest you’re looking at 50 points for a regular team with an LMG (15 points for the LMG, 30 points for 3 crew, 5 points because it doesnt have fixed and is small enough to be hidden compared to a 5 man squad with an LMG)
