Hello again community and friends,
First, I want to thank all of you for your most helpful replies.
Second, my new issue. I’m painting 4 Dutch grenadiers. I have the crest that went on their helmets. That’s too much detail for me to paint. However, I can print them very small then, as I understand it, one can varnish them onto their caps. Has…[Read more]

Hello,
I made a new blog post with pics and a short video of my first small army of Bavarians (War of Spanish Succession). It consists of 1 brigade of infantry, 1 brigade of cavalry, 1 battery of artillery and 3 generals. It was fun to make.

Correct myself, width not depth.

George started the topic Artillery bases in the forum Black Powder 5 years ago
Hello again,
In the BP rules it says that artillery can be mounted on 40mm – 80mm depth. I found the 80mm width allows me to put my gun, crew, and accessories all on that signal base. It’s width is about the same as that of an infantry battalion in attack column. Is it okay to have my base that wide or am I going to suffer side effects by doing…[Read more]

Thank you Nat, that was very helpful.
So, tell me about leaders with unwelcome staff ratings like 6 and 5. Can those be a deduction from your points? Is there a table to where you have to roll to take on an incompetent leader?

Thanks Big Al,
so a unit with a morale save 6+ is 4 points, 5+ is 8 points, 4+ is 12 points, and (going theoretically lower) 3+ is 16 points, and 2+ is 24 points. So do I understand that correctly now?
Also, again, what about leaders? Do they cost points? How are they calculated.
I agree with you that the game is for friendly enjoyment and not…[Read more]

Hello,
I was looking of a previous post that included two images from BP 1st edition that is of a point system for building an army. I like this a lot and would like to use it in the future when I create drop down games.
However I don’t understand something:
An infantry unit is…
1 point for each hand-to-hand rating
1 point for each shooting…[Read more]

George started the topic Sound Clip Player? in the forum Black Powder 5 years ago
Hello,
I’m curious. I think it would be cool as one rolls the dice for hits or shooting to have a device that can play sound clips. Say, my battalion is going to charge into battle. I have a little device at the side of my table. I press a button and men screaming their war cry goes out as I move the bases into contact. Let’s say another…[Read more]

George replied to the topic Question about orders in the forum Black Powder 5 years ago
Thank you Big Al,
I appreciate the response. I kept reading the rules section on command and generals and couldn’t find where it said a general can’t order troops after he fails an order check found it:
Page 29, 3rd Column, “If a commander fails to give an order then that commander cannot give any more orders that turn.” I don’t know what I was…[Read more]

Hello,
I was watching a BP video on youtube and it confused me some from what I’ve read in the 2nd edition BP rules.
I understand a brigade order is from the general to the entire brigade. It is only one die roll for the whole brigade.
However, one can also order battalions individually.
So, here is my confusion. Let’s say I have a brigade…[Read more]

D’Arco’s Cuirassiers are ready for battle! I know many of you are professionals and my work is amateur. Still, I’m feeling pretty good about these.
Also, I created a blog for miniature wargaming as I get into it. Made 4 posts already.

I recently got a Marlborough’s Wars Starter Army set here in the states. It let’s me build 4 infantry battalions, 1 cavalry regiment, artillery, and commanders. I’m well on my way to getting my first army set.
I’m building War of Spanish Succession Bavarians. What I know about them is that an infantry regiment consisted of 2, then later in the…[Read more]

Hello,
I got me a starter army last week that I have been working on. I want to do a better job on these soldiers than I did the first. I watched several youtube videos on prepping, basing, and priming minis on BlackMagicCraft’s youtube channel that I found highly informative.
One of his techniques he recommends in prepping the minis is to wash…[Read more]

Hmm…reminds me of the movie Up where the dogs keep getting distracted by squirrels. “Here we go, men, we’re almost to…Hey, Squirrel! (and the whole battalion stops to look).”

Hello,
Question about orders. If unit, say, is ordered to march straight across the battlefield to the other end of it (and say it’s a long one) and gets one move. Next turn, do I still have to roll orders for that unit again as I have not changed the earlier order?
