Recently had a game using a Tercio with home made rules . Very similar . Double frontage with 10 hth , 1* shot , 4+ save and 8 stamina . The one shot was one per face and from within it’s own footprint -no shot depicted . The 8 stamina was somewhat confined by making the Tercio state at it’s turn start if it would take hits OR disorder , if hits , then the first 6 rolled was one extra casualty and any excess 6’s extra hits to be saved. Also , it’s movement was restricted in that any turn required a whole move and any movement was straight ahead only . Juggernaut would be a good term indeed.

A charge order is given to a line of 4 units against 4 skirmisher units to their front and parallel to them 9″ away. I understand how ONE unit evades if charged , but what happens in this “group charge” ? Does the first unit charge then an evade test then the charger chooses what to do with surplus moves – and then the second , third etc ? I ask because a move/charge like this could have so many variables . Many thanks.

Interesting , AB2 shows veteran as being +1 hth and reliable @6 pts as an upgrade ie pp131 for Prussian cavalry. Reliable @4 pts and +1 hth @ 2pts + veteran for 6 pts.

As I read it , the Russians get NO discount for their poorer musketry and (like Austria) restricted multiple unit moves . Wholly accurate representation within the BP mechanic. BUT quite unfair in the points system. If also playing with the commanders’ national characteristics , then they are as difficult an army to use as Spain . Great fun and a challenge.

Hi, in COE , if a line charges a column the column’s response has to be a change to line (- assuming no disorder and in frontal arc -) . If a column charges a line AND the line is “Steady Line” , the line may countercharge – easy so far . Q1 Is the column now being charged by the line FORCED to form a (disordered ?) line ? Q2 The “Steady Line” countercharge loses the closing fire benefit(s) ie no +1 drm to hit (but DOES get close range ?) and casualties do or do not cause a Closing Fire break test ?
