  • Howdy Michael!  You’re basing your assertion on what?  Both the FG42 and the BAR utilize a full-length rifle cartridge.  This is the primary difference between assault rifles and automatic rifles.  Both weapons are magazine-fed and have bipods.  I don’t there’s any appreciable difference in “effective range” between weapons firing 7.92mm and .30-…[Read more]

  • Howdy invisible officer!

Thanks for the info.  The problem I’m having with Version 3 is that the cost of panzerfausts has tripled.  I could see charging the Russians more, since they didn’t actually manufacture them, but this just seems like another way for the British owned company to screw over the German players again….

  • Howdy Peter!

I had a good weekend, then again when you’re an old retired guy, EVERY day is Saturday.  I hope you had a pleasant weekend….

My actual experience with shaped-charge weapons is limited, just some LAAWs, fired at armored vehicle targets.  I was impressed, but I believe modern AT4s, Javelins, TOWs, etc, probably back a little more p…[Read more]

  • Howdy Peter!

Like I said, I’m no expert.  My limited understanding is that the job of the explosive in a shaped-charge projectile is to ignite/force the resulting molten jet of the copper cone at the target, as opposed to spreading shrapnel in as wide an area as possible, like a fragmentation projectile.  The copper cone doesn’t become a p…[Read more]

This is an obscure question.  It has apparently been mostly addressed already between Armies of Germany Versions 2 and 3.  In Bolt Action, the German Sdkfz 222 armored car gets the special attribute; Flak.  I’m assuming this is by nature of the cute “open-top” turret, containing the light auto cannon and coax MMG.  I see that the various other Ger…[Read more]

  • Howdy Greg, Peter!

I think so of it is the nature of what the weapon is used for and how it works.  I’m no expert, but I know a little and shaped-charge weapons don’t defeat their intended target (armored vehicles) by either blasting it with a charge of high explosive or punching a hole through it with an armor-piercing projectile.  A s…[Read more]

  • EXCELLENT post, Kar98k!  It’s too bad Warlord Games isn’t interested in cleaning up their product.  I’ve only been making this argument since Version 2.  It’s somewhat discouraging that you’ve been trying since Version 1.  I see the removal of comments from Warlord Games article as their unconcern for feedback from their customers.  I don’t see…[Read more]

Oh, I’m sorry Johnny, I’m just trying to encourage improvements to Bolt Action by suggesting corrections based on knowledge and professional experience.  I’ve been trying since Version 2.  I was taught in the USMC to continually improve my position.  Well, you’re either part of the solution, part of the problem, or just part of the landscape.  I’v…[Read more]

    Howdy Nat!

Yeah, I’ve been picking up the new BATTLE ACTION comics by Garth Ennis.  They reference a lot a the old military comics.  NONE of that is how Warlord Games presents Bolt Action.  That’s why the published all those historical scenario books, with references to actual historical military personalities….NOT comic book ch…[Read more]

    Howdy Nat!

I get your points, but I think it also cuts them out of feedback from their customers….

  • THANKS Stuart!

Well, there’s a teaser in today’s email from Warlord.  Apparently they’re looking at a late 2025 release.  Some stuff about “Rift Dice” and “Heroes”….

The Bolt Action group at my store, White Knight Hobbies & Games in Helena, MT, is working on blending Konflikt with Bolt Action Version 3….

  • So I’ve got the Version 3 book and the new Armies of Germany.  I don’t see the Panzer Zerstorer Squad anywhere.  This is one a my favorite units.  Is it gone from the Bolt Action universe?  I’m an old paper and pencil list-making dinosaur, with a dumb flip-phone.  I don’t have Easy Army capability….

Thanks for your time and consideration!

    Howdy Nat!

Some a this sounds familiar.  I think we’ve had some a this discussion before, back in Version 2 days….

    1) I disagree.  I think folks (like me) play Bolt Action BECAUSE it’s a WWII historical game.  That’s also why we play the different countries armies and buy the scenario books.  If I wanted to play comic books, I’d play Judge Dre…[Read more]

Howdy Gents!  Sorry I didn’t get back to this for so long.  I will attempt to throw out some thoughtful comments….

    Howdy Kar98k!

    5) No, I didn’t overlook Hitler’s Buzzsaw, I just think it’s heavily watered down.  Besides being belt-fed vs magazine-fed, MG34/42s fired two to three TIMES faster the any other countries MGs.  I think one extra die…[Read more]

  • I hear you Peter.  I also disagree with Nat’s theory of a B&P/comic book game.  I play Bolt Action precisely because it’s a historically-based WWII game.  I don’t play Bolt Action because it reminds me of THE HAUNTED TANK or SGT ROCK or SGT FURY AND THE HOWLING COMMANDOS.  I play it because I’m looking for that balance between playability and det…[Read more]

Anybody else notice that the comments have been removed from older articles on the Warlord Games website?  And that new articles don’t allow comments at all?  I wonder why this is….

  • I wrote a topic a while back about what I considered to be problems with how certain firearms are portrayed in Bolt Action.  It appears that no real corrections were made in Version 3, and now some weapons are more messed up than ever.  I’m wondering if anyone at Warlord Games has the slightest idea how firearms actually work….

    1) Why don’t p…[Read more]

  • I’ve noticed that only the US and Brits are allowed to have “heavy” transport trucks that can carry more than 12 men.  Apparently no one at Warlord Games can figure out that the Germans had “heavy” 5 ton trucks too….

  • For the 2nd time this year, a contingent of Bolt Action players from our store (White Knight Games & Hobbies in Helena, Montana) went to a Bolt Action tournament at Gajo Games in Salt Lake City and did well, taking 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th and 14th places.  IIRC, the last article I saw on Warlord Games website, covering a Gajo Games tournament was…[Read more]
