Grenadiers in Revolutionary question

Hello all, I’m starting to paint my foot guards for the new game and noticed that the grenadiers in the picture in the webstore have a strip of regulars behind the grenadiers. Was this a common practice for the guards and/or other regiments or was this just a way to stretch the grenadiers to two stands or am I worrying about nothing?

So I’m taking that this is Epic and not 28mm…

During the AWI / American Rev.  The British army tended to pull their Grenadier Companies out of the battalions and form pure (combined) grenadier battalions (same as they did with the light companies).

So I’d go with padding to make the grenadiers a full 2 bases.
