When I put this article on the forum I didn’t realise the same question was asked 2 years ago under the title, unclear target. Having read the replies to that article I don’t think the diagram on page 47 covers the situation in question. I’ve added the same photo from the original article which shows almost 50% of the rear unit is behind the unit…[Read more]

The scenario is that two units are firing on one, the first unit has a clear line of fire, the second is behind the first for the most part but my opponent claims that the unit may fire as the command in the center is just to the side of the unit to their front. I don’t see this covered in the rules, my unit would be an unclear target at the very…[Read more]

  • A unit of heavy cavalry has just been in melee and won, the opponent has fallen back and the heavy cavalry deside to carry out a sweeping advance.

Is this classed as a new melee or a continuation of the first, if it’s a new melee heavy cavalry would be hitting on a 3, if it’s a continuation they would hit on a 2 due to having impetus and winner…[Read more]

If you have ever tried to take a village or town you will know how difficult it can be. We had a situation at our club where I was attacking a village on one side, the defenders may have two attacks on that side so were able to fire from a different side with their one remaining dice. I wanted to fire into that side with my artillery but my…[Read more]

  • When foot artillery is limbered the rules state that it takes a full move to unlimber then the gun is ready to fire. As shooting comes after movement can the gun fire in the same move. For example if I wanted to move 12″ unlimber and fire, would I need three moves or two.

  • On page 51 it states “If a player wishes, a disordered unit can use an initiative order to make a disorderly retreat. This is exactly like an ordinary initiative order, except that the unit can only be instructed to move away from the closest enemy”.

Does this mean you still have to be with 12″ of the enemy to carry out this move, as this is…[Read more]

  • Do you have to be in the proximity of an enemy to carry out a disorderly retreat.
