    Hi,

once we have passed the first 5 turns with the “situation” cards and we arrive at the 5 objective cards which give 1 victory point to the owner of the appropriate objective, should the battles stop? Are the only possible combats aerial? When the opposing player can bring in new troops with the “escalate” rule, his counters are only used to…[Read more]

  • Thank you for the answer.

If that would be a regular 28mm rules, I’d agree and accept that. But the Epic Scale dictates more miniatures on the tabletop, that’s why I still see “3 bases” for artillery and no option to reduce the quantity

  • Hello,

Is Warlord Games going to be introducing any new ship releases any time soon?

  • Hail and Hello,
My name is Daniel Morgan, and I am located in Tucson, Arizona.  I am part of a small local game group called Javelina Flight El Escuadron 857th, Vuelo del Javelina.
(Yeah long name.)  But we just call it “Javelina Flight”. We began as a Tucson-based squadron of players devoted to Wings of War — both WW1 and WW2. As time passed, w…[Read more]

  • Disclaimer – Dont have & havent played epic

However, in standard BP artillery are a single gun in the rules with an optional rule to allow the size to be shown with additional models.. this is normally because only Russians (in Napoleonics) can have large batterys, everyone else normal or half….

Looking at the stats you’ve shown I’d say that…[Read more]

  • Greetings,

Here I need to clear one thing – is it correct that you may have only 3 bases artillery battery and no less? According to the Rules I may reduce only Infantry Unit to Small and Tiny (no Cavalry or Artillery) loosing 2 dice HtH, 1 Shooting and 1 Stamina. So is 1 base Artillery no legal? And so have I to buy 3 brigades (actually I did)…[Read more]

  • Thanks for the in depth reply.
<p style=”text-align: right;”>I’ll definitely look for the SHIPS rules, especially because I like home brewing my own ships.</p>
As far as the list goes, I think I’ll find a roughly equal BB for each side to make things more interesting.

    Thanks

    Aidan

  • So WLPA is based on the base costs of the ships as they are in the rulebook -0 with the biggest outliers (Alaska, Bismark, Yugumo etc) having the base cost guestimated into line.  Its a backward working of the points value then a review of the refit costs so they make sense.

SHIPS is a ground up total recalculation – the guy who wrote it has…[Read more]

  • Thanks Nat!

I noticed the crazy points discrepancies too. Do you happen to have a link to the WLPA chart? Also what’s the difference between WLPA and SHIPS?

Thanks for the input. Are there any rules of thumb for VaS lists? I know in Bolt Action you wanted lots of infantry.

    Aye, iniative orders are
    within 12″ of enemy
    before brigade commanders order
    1 move

  • I would say yes, it is an initiative order and for that you need to be within 12″.  It may not get you out of range of the enemy but it does leave a space for you to move fresh troops into.

  • So, looks like you are using WLPS (WarLord Points System – the rulebook points) …. this isnt that great espically with regards to the refit costs!  As a general rule of thumb I suggest only using WLPS for learning the game or quickly putting a last minuete game together at a club… A good indercation is how type93s can be either 5 or 10 points…[Read more]

  • Hello all, it’s been a while.

Right now I’m trying to put together two, roughly balanced 1000 pt fleets for casual play based on what I got in the Battle for the Pacific starter box, plus a few additional models. Here’s where I’m at right now:

    USN 1000 Points,
    Portland class heavy cruiser
    x2 Northampton class heavy cruisers
    Cleveland class light…[Read more]

  • Thanks very much for such an informative reply, greatly appreciated.

I know at Borodino it was reported that the light cavalry division of the Corp V had a regiment of Hussars, Chasseurs and Uhlan only.

  • On page 51 it states “If a player wishes, a disordered unit can use an initiative order to make a disorderly retreat. This is exactly like an ordinary initiative order, except that the unit can only be instructed to move away from the closest enemy”.

Does this mean you still have to be with 12″ of the enemy to carry out this move, as this is…[Read more]

  • Nat replied to the topic DoW Light Cavalry in the forum Black Powder 9 months, 2 weeks ago

So a quick check in “master of the World” ESR campaign guide for the 1812 invasion of Russian [ I do love the colour plates they’ve put in for all the units involved (ok standard french line & light have indications rather that 100% of them) ]….And yes the DoW did wear French uniforms… the DoW ARE NOT the same as the Vistula Legion – they were…[Read more]

  • I’m looking at adding some light cavalry regiments to my Duchy of Warsaw list (other than Uhlans), I’m I correct that the uniforms for Polish Hussars and Chasseurs are the same as the French for the 1812 period. So I could proxy and paint up French minis?

  • Black Powder?  BP Epic?

might be best asking this question in the game specific channel as you’ll get a quicker response (most people dont look at this part of the forum)

  • Do you have to be in the proximity of an enemy to carry out a disorderly retreat.

  • In the book, the French Gendarmes d’Ordonnance, the Italian and Venetian Famiglia di Casa units have the same stats, but their costs are different. The Gendarmes d’Ordonnance costs 64 points (page 44), while the Famiglia di Casa costs 62 points (page 38 & 40). Should the Italian cavalry have a lower stat? Maybe one less HtH die? That’s two points.
