The Cromwell marked the point at which the British cruiser tanks finally came of age. Leading the British armoured charge, the Cromwell decently stood up to the once superior German tanks, notably the Panzer IV, of which they have now come to even ground in terms of efficiency on the battlefield. However, the Cromwell did not have the stopping power the Sherman Vc Firefly had. Nearly the equivalent of a tank sniper, the Firefly could easily penetrate any target from 1000m away, even making Tiger tanks cautious of their next move if they know a Firefly is on the prowl.

The Firefly is noted as a glass cannon, able to dish out an enormous amount of punishment with its super heavy anti-tank gun but unable to take a large amount of damage back. This is where the 4 Cromwells would intervene, even though they have the same armour (9+ medium tank), they can still block line of sight for your opponent and interrupt any pesky infantry.

Finnish Tank War Starter Set

Combining lend-lease German vehicles and stolen Soviet tanks creates an what seems to be an unorthodox, but yet, an extremely fierce fighting force. Although the Finnish don’t have a massive tank force, they certainly make do with what they can acquire. Using the Sturmi STUGs to cover their infantry and the stolen T-34s to deal with tank threats, they still are a deadly threat.

Each tank here is as tough as each other and varying scales of firepower. The StuG III Sturmi would act as an escort for the Finnish troops, providing anti-tank firepower to enemy armour. Whilst the T-34s will be their own front line, taking on other portions of the enemies army to allow the infantry to break through.

Italian Tank War Starter Set

The M13/40 and M14/41 formed the main bulk of Italian force, comparable to the British light tanks, usually winning in conflicts due to its superior 47mm anti-tank gun. When facing with heavier vehicles, the Italian forces took an inspiration to the German the StuG. Seeing its success, the Italians adopted the idea and forged their own vehicle, the Semovente 75/18. Which it could reliably take out much heavier vehicles and became known as one of the nations best tanks.

With up to 4 medium machine guns, the M13/40 is one of the most deadly anti-infantry tanks on the battlefield. Potentially putting out 20 shots from an armoured shell impervious to small arms fire, the M13/40 will remain unmatched until taken out by dedicated anti-tank fire. But this is where the Semovente 75/18 would intervene as it can reliably take out heavier tanks and protect the lighter tanks.

Japanese Tank War Starter Set

The majority of the Japanese armoured forces consisted of the Chi-Ha; intended and suited for infantry support, it fared well when it was put into its intended purpose. However, it did struggle against other tanks, as a result, they made the Shinhoto Chi-Ha, mainly designed to combat the American Sherman. To deal with heavy Allied invasions, the Japanese upgraded the Chi-Ha chassis even further equipping it with a heavy mortar creating the Ho-Ro.

Both tanks are equipped with howitzers, light and heavy making them ideal for different scenarios. The Chi-Ha is suited with dealing with infantry and light vehicles, it’s 8+ armour makes it impervious to small arms fire and with 2 medium machine guns, it can comfortably handle a whole platoon of men. The Type 4 Ho-Ro is far more capable of handling vehicles and fortifications, with its 4″ heavy mortar, it can reliably destroy most enemy armour and defences.

Chi-Ha Stat Profile

Cost: 108pts (inexperienced), 135pts (Regular), 162pts (Veteran).
Weapons: 1 turret-mounted light howitzer, 1 turret-mounte rear-facing MMG and 1 forward-facing hull-mounted MMG
