Social Networking

Postby zedeyejoe » Wed Nov 25, 2009 2:34 am

I am anti social network sites. Throughout my 50 years I have managed without and I see no advantage in using them.

Well I than I'm getting closer to 50 than 40 and I use Facebook, it can be a useful tool.

It helps me keep in touch with friends I have met travelling who live thousand's of miles away.

It already has JohnM!

If it hasn't, then surely you should have sent your reply written, on paper, by royal mail - and I may therefore be reading it in apx a weeks time. Surprised

Considering that all 'forums' ARE by definition 'social network sites' am I the only one thinking of the irony. . . . Tongue out

Well, I use Facebook and I'm in my fifties. I don't use it a lot, but it is very useful. I recently found a load of former school friends who I hadn't heard of for thirty years. Now, I realise that this could raise a lot of derogatory comments, but the reason for losing touch was this. I went to school in Rhodesia and events took a turn there, as you all know. I think for the worse, but never mind that. We were all scattered around the world. Some stayed in South Africa and most went to New Zealand. I was pleased to know that most had survived the war at the time.

Now that this thread was bumped maybe the mods/admins (if they have time) could go through the "stickied" thread and decide whether they really deserve being stickied? My guess is that a few of them lost their relevance three years ago. I'd include this thread in that group.

Alas, that's an admin-only job - moderators can't do it. Otherwise, I would.

It shouldn't be hard to set those powers to be available for mods as well. ;)
