Montrose' Irish Brigade

Postby MacColla » Mon Sep 21, 2009 7:32 am

Great to see the preview of the Irish Brigade. I look forward to seeing more of them soon (the sooner the better!). I am going to need some serious opposition for the Covenanters I have just started assembling and painting.

I hope you will be making a personality figure of Montrose at an early stage to go with them.

With a name like MacColla you probably would like a Montrose army!!

We will indeed do a Montrose model and of course his sidekick sub general Mac Colla the devastator....He should be great!!

The Irish Brigade are largely done now, some well dressed ones and some very raggedy arsed ones who will do well for most ragged armies..

Personalities and Highlanders next,,,,Hoots Mon!!

To second John - these are bloody lovely models and really seem to have captured the imagination of many of you.

Will get pics of the pikemen into the newsletter over the next couple of weeks...

Cheers,

Paul

I'm delighted to see Irish figures from Warlord Games. Even happier that Mr. 'icks has done 'em.

Been wanting to do the Montrose campaigns for some time Cool

Ah John, I see you've worked me out (with a name like MacColla you probably would like a Montrose army!).

Yes, I've been trying to put together a decent Montrose army for years. Essex did a few figures many years ago that weren't very good (with 20/20 hindsight - I raved about them at the time) and I had some Redoubt figures that were very nice but not particularly Irish and were a scale eight feet tall next to my Foundry highlanders and Perry Covenanters.

Now at last I have excellent Irish Brigade figures from Eureka plus these Warlord figures to look forward to. On the evidence of the Rupert and Essex figures you can pencil me in for Montrose now!

I look forward to seeing the Irish pikemen in the newsletter.

And as for the highlanders....

A month further on and can I say the Irish Brigade figures just get better and better - the musketeers are great, I thought that the pikemen would take some beating but the command figures look brilliant!

Can you say how the figures will be sold? In particular, will the pikemen be available individually as well as in packs, like the clubmen and the armoured pikemen?

Otherwise I look forward to being able to buy them.

And of course, to seeing the Montrose figure.

Hi again...It has been hot debate on how to sell the Montrose boys...but we think it will be a full colour box, and supporting blister packs for trade , and loose to direct customers to fill out the ranks...An even bigger debate, as ever, as to what pikes , if any, to equip everyone with....

Highlanders soon..oh, and a Montrose...

Hi! I was wondering if you could just answer a small question: Are the Irish brigade going to be released as a plastic kit or as metal figure?

Thanks!

When are the Irish Brigade and Highlanders coming out? I hope there will be pike and musket equipped Highlanders and some very Ill equipped (and dressed) Western Clan types – NOT just typical well kitted out Highlanders with pistol, sword, dirk, targe, two handed sword (which was pretty much out of use by the 1640's!). Oh and Ensigns as well…

Thanks
