OK, so finally having secured a box of plastic Legionaries here in the US, I'm looking for an excuse to use them. I've lately gotten away from mass battle games and enjoy smaller skirmish level games these days. The logical choice would be to use Mordheim and borrow liberally from WAB...but to be honest I'm so burnt out on the GW games it's not funny (I can't take IGO/UGO any more). So I'm going to use my current game of choice, Confrontation 3.5 and the fantastic Dogs of War campaign system.
The problem is I'm far from an expert on the period (I know just about any other period better), but I am keen to learn more. Right now the plan is to set the games around the constuction and manning of Hadrian's Wall. I'm not attempting to recreate history here, just have a fun game with history as a base. I'm working on what baseline profiles of a Legionary and a Celt warrior at the moment. I think I need a trip to the library badly.
Rough Ideas:
Romans: Superior Discipline, Better Armor, solid combat stats, likely use Bravery as a "racial" ability (Fear will need some tweaking).
Celts: Better Initiative, maybe higher Strength, lower armor, likely use War Fury or War Cry as "racial" ability.
If anyone here is interested, I'd be happy to post my progress to get some feedback...but I'm guessing there aren't a lot of folks familiar with Confrontation on the forums. If I can get this working, I'd like move to Mordheim next.
