Postby southrifle » Tue Jul 07, 2009 4:27 pm

Hi, I wondered if anyone can give me a bit of help, the first thing is after purchasing some roman/celts, I brought the warhammer hist but was wondering if there is any rulebooks better, I like simple rules but with some depth.

my next question is there any good rule books for the american revoultion and napo, as I can,t seem to find any decent ones.

is there any decent flag maker (perferable british), spanning most periods.

lastly vallejo or citadel ?

thanks for your help

G'day Southrifle,

Regarding rule books, it is really up to the style of the player on what type of rules are preferred. I will not make a suggestion (as I believe there are more experienced gamers to make that one) however, if you are looking for free rules to throw around to get the 'feel' of how you like to play, look at this site:

http://www.freewargamesrules.co.uk/

I personally like Pro Patria rules (free) as well. Google the name if interested.

To also give you assistance on flags, my Napoleonic army have benefitted from the excellent work in NAPFLGS/WARFLAGS site. Although this may not be what you settle on, it will once again give you a very good guide on what your tastes are. Printed out on good quality paper, these flags do suit the average wargaming army.

Lastly, paints are a personal preference. My personal opinon is citadel is overpriced for the product and I would go Vallejo. If you struggle to have a good 'hobby cash flow', possibly due to a minister for war and finance, you may also want to combine other, cheaper brands, such as Jo-Sonja for the mundane colours.

Hope this helps

Also, Warlord's Black Powder ruleset will be appropiate for both American Revolution and Napoleonics - when it's released of course... hopefully soon! Smile
