LOL!

Well, this could be a great opportunity for me to actually thin out my herd of minis, and re-learn how to paint. I'm not Spanish, French, or from Eastern Europe like all the best painters ( ;) ) but I bet I can give it a go.

I am more surprised that people didn't vote me off the cliff (my first choice!)

I'm sure this will all work out. There's a chance we could move, and if I do there's always GW then.

Thing is, Grant, it was at GW that I first met people that were into other things, those types of people are still there.

Parus has a good point.

If you look at the make up of our club which has now been going for nearly 5 years. On its inception around 30 members just played GW games with around 10 of us being more into othere things like WAB and Naps.

5 Years on out of a membership of around 60 only 3 people regulalarly play GW games. Most popular games appear to be the various Card Games ,Warmachine,Malifaux ,WAB and KGN .With BGK expected to take over from KGN until BGN comes out .NAPs from the historicals has also dropped off.

GW is where I started off and then my tastes matured, (although now I've moved and have Edinburgh GW on my doorstep I've already been in there 4 times :? ;) )

I was concerned actually that when I moved house that I would be further away from the club I belong to and finally getting a games room did make me think will I be playing by myself  But they've assured me there'll be there! probably as it has a beer fridge 8-)

So Grant if ever you're in Scotland you're more than welcome to try the fridge!!!

A really big advantage of being a solo gamer is that you can pick an army or period that YOU really like as opposed to having to get an army for a period because that is what my gaming group play. An advanatge of this is that you are most likely to see the project through as well. ;)

so its not all bad. ;)

I guess being in Canada, the population centre's - sorry, center's - are very far apart - making finding a decent gaming group difficult.

If you do have a relocation on the cards, I'd hold out from doing anything rash. Just imagine jettisoning something that's absolutely adored in your new neighbo(u)rhood. Or even worse, you turn up at the new club and several people pull out armies that they've just bought off you on eBay...

Sorry to hear that you're going the way of the solo gamer. I'd look into online gaming engines such as Vassal. Might still get some gaming in that way.

I'll keep an eye out for your ebay auctions. Hope to give some of your items a good home!

Sorry to read Grant of your loss of gaming buddies. like the idea of just taking the time to paint and take it from there. If you like your 6 mm games, try 10 mm and add the extra detail with the paint brush. After all there is no time limit.

Cheers,

Helen
