That is fabulous - especially the skin tones - the eyes, the pelt, the lion's muzzle ... all very, very nice. What are the large leaves on the basing, please?

Birch seed scales. We must have birch trees nearby because every year around late summer/early autumn we get them blowing into the garden for about a fortnight. I just gather them up and glue them on! They're free and you probably walk past piles of them without realising if you go along pavements anywhere near birch trees. The scales are the protective plates on the catkins that protect the seed as it grows. When the seeds are ready to scatter on the wind, the seed and the scale fall away from each other (the seed looks like a little brown cartoon fly, with a round body and two thin wings) so you'll probably see both piled up on the floor, but not attached.

I think you can buy them on the interweb, but make sure you're buying the 'seed scales' not the 'seeds', because they're not even a bit the same.

In case anyone's interested, his twin has a few hours left before he's sold ... in case you'd like to bump my money up!

I was just about to bid, but then I realized I would rather have a vintage Bonnie Tyler album! Konichiwa!

You do realize mine going to look like camel poo, compared to yours, when I paint it.

So buy his! It's not a bad price at all for that calibre of painting. If that was a Space Marine, it would be double the price. Crazy market.

I really think it's a good deal. (I'm not into Romans. Yet.)
