Fighting over a bridge?

Well, not being overly informed on the event, I would guess the bridge didnt allow to barge across. Appearantly, they had a man getting underneath the bridge poking the viking with a spear. Not that I am tempted to try enact this into gameplay, but it shows the conundrum of narrow bridges, I guess.

Well this crops up in sagas and such from time to time, a reflection of the 'Horatius on the Bridge' legend from the Etruscan siege of Rome. A theory for this repetition of the theme is that it's a well loved metaphor, accepted by the audience of the day to represent a holding action, possibly commanded by the named warrior. Of course, it could be a literal truth as well.

I guess you can pick and choose, or simply enjoy the freedom of indecision that comes from not being able to know one way or the other!
