ECW, not direct. Royalist privateers went over the Atlantic and attacked the shipping in 1644. And Parliamentarian ones too.
10th April 1644 at the meeting of James and Warwick rivers a 12 gun Royalist ship (The David from Bristol ?) was attacked by two ships from London . The Royalist ship escaped. That was the first ECW related fight in America
The Indians got wind from the war between the English and attacked in Virginia in April 1644, killing hundreds of settlers. But the Governor rallied the militia and hit back. The war spread and it took a long time to get the control back. The peace was signed in the name of the king.
Later some colonies declared for the parliament. Some tzensions between the colonies. It was more about rivalries in trade, not so much about King or Parliament. In Boston they declared against the king but both war parties traded with the colony.
Prince Rupert led a fleet for merchant warfare over the Atlantic in 1652/53. His brother Maurice died in a Hurricane there that sank his ship, the Defiance. Caribean and West indies, not the mainland colonies. He went for money, sugar and wealth, not for small scale busines and prayers.
“conscribe te militem in legionibus. pervagare orbem terrarium. inveni terras externas. cognosce miros peregrines. eviscera eos” ̴ “Join the legions, see the world, travel to foreign parts, meet interesting and exotic people, and disembowel them.”
